I was very disappointed with my meal at the Ranchers Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The thing is, I have not been to the Ranchers Club in about ten years so I remember what the Ranchers Club used to be like.
Believe it or no, ten years ago the Ranchers Club was an exclusive high end Steakhouse. You paid top dollar, but you got top grade steaks. The Ranchers Club ten years ago was on par with Mahogany Steakhouse in Tulsa or the Ranch Steakhouse in Oklahoma City. Ten years ago, The Ranchers Club was only open Fridays and Saturdays, they were only open evenings and they were not very crowded. The last time I went there were only be one or two tables filled.
So this is the first time I've been in the Racnher Club in 10 years and I was very disappointed. I was in Stillwater for a few hours and thought I would give myself a treat by going to The Ranchers Club. Boy was I disappointed. Apparently they are under new management or a new management philosphy and they have totally changed the way they do business.
I went at 1pm in the afternoon on a Thursday and the restaurant was almost full. The service was still terrific. But the food was really not up to par. The grilled shrimp they bought me was too raw. It had not been cooked properly and I didn't eat it at all. The Ribeye steak they brought me was an awful cut of meat, full of fat and gristle. I probably should have sent it back. Apparently what the new management has done at the Ranchers Club since I was last there 10 years ago is lower their standards and lower their costs to increase their mass appeal. And their strategy is working. They have a lot more people there and they are probably making a lot more money but it is no longer high end and no longer a treat to eat there.
I won't be going back anytime soon. By the way, I am leaving a one star review to get your attention. Whenever I write a review for Google Guides or Amazon I like to leave a one star review so others will see and be forwarned. It really wasn't that bad. It was probably really two stars bad. But it really wasn't what I was expecting, based on my past experience. So sorry to have to write...
Read moreMy daughter and I had looked forward to having lunch at what use to be our favorite "fancy" place to eat in Stillwater. She ordered a ribeye WELL DONE I ordered the garden salad with adding the steak to it also cooked WELL DONE! My steak was automatically noticed by myself (because they slice it) that it was NOT well done! I immediately said it would need to go back for more fire please. I also included I do not want any pink please. My steak came back still pink. My daughters steak was RED! She is one that prefers it cooked done but can eat it unlike myself. Also would like to include the quality of the salad was not the same as previous visits. Lots of white (the ends that are normally disposed of) instead of large tomatoes cut up as previous visits it had some small grape tomatoes. I picked out and left on the side plate a lot of the "trash" ate the salad enjoyed being with my daughter but--- The booth we sat in was dusty (the sides next to you we could both see the dust standing) I had to wipe off my seat to sit down but I kind of shrugged it off because was still looking forward to the meal. Now here's the thing--- OUR SERVER WAS VERY NICE! I think she was possibly one that had not been working very long. She had a difficult table beside us that an older gentleman was being very loud about getting a cup of soup instead of the bowl he wanted. These were OSU people with a donation person. They were very loud--- So-- Extra complaints on our server did not seem nice when she was dealing with all of that. But the biggest upset is that our favorite fancy spot is no more😢 And also being a person that never believes in punishing a server for obvious other people having issues--- ( housekeeping cleaning the booth seats and surrounding-- COOK THAT CAN NOT COOK A STEAK--- enough said about salad. YES I gave ABOVE the highest suggestion because she...
Read moreWe made reservations at The Ranchers Club for a party of 27 to celebrate an engagement and it could not have been more perfect. The restaurant's coordinator was so easy to work with despite this being a very last minute event. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. We had the half chicken, ribeye chicken fried steak, steak and shrimp carbonara and chicken cordon bleu and everything was cooked to perfection. The skirt steak chimichurri was so flavorful and the fresh baked bread, crab cakes and baked brie were excellent. The coordinator and chef suggested we pre-order our meal and we were all so happy we did. The servers were very attentive and the atmosphere was very nice. It was our first time at the restaurant and I must say, the pictures online do not do this place justice. It is a beautiful restaurant. We did pass through The State Room which is a very nice area for cocktails and appetizers located next to The Rancher's Club and it was a much larger area than I realized from looking online and could have easily accommodated our group on a walk in basis that night even though they don't take reservations, but it was nice knowing we had a secured reservation at The Rancher's Club. Valet was available, but we didn't need it. The parking at the Student Union open lot was just a few steps away from the front door. If you are looking for a very nice, fancy place for your next celebration, I highly recommend The...
