Extremely rude staff member. Ordered food online, told us food would be ready in 30 minutes, ran an errand and came back parked in curbside pick up and called as instructed, no one answered the phone after repeated attempts. At the door was told by hostess that there was a 1.5 hour wait to be seated because the kitchen was way behind. Even though most of the patrons had food. Only the bar and the tables immediately surrounding the bar were open. The rest of the restaurant was closed off and empty. I explained to the hostess that we had been trying to call from curbside pickup for quite awhile and no one was answering the phone, that I was there to pick up my food...hostess asked a server about my order. Server spoke to hostess like I wasn't standing there in extremely condescending and rude manner. Server checked on order came back, still didn't acknowledge I was standing there, only spoke to hostess. "She's gonna have to wait another 45 minutes" I said "45 minutes!!" Rude Server said "Take it or leave it" again completely rude as she walked away. I asked to speak with the manager so I could get a refund, I had my elder Aunt in the car waiting who had just had surgery and we couldn't wait 45 minutes for food to be done...hostess told rude server that I wanted to speak with the manager who then told the hostess, I'd also have to wait 45 minutes to speak with a manager at which time I said "I would not wait 45 minutes...hostess then went in the back and told manager I wished to speak with her, while waiting for manager another patron who was just finishing her meal said they had dealt with the rude Server as well and was also telling my husband and I about her bad experience that day. The hostess said that they were extremely behind even though there were very few patrons in the restaurant at the time. The manager came out from the back almost immediately and was very professional and courteous and listened to my concerns and said they would refund my money. I was completely floored by the level of unprofessionalism at this location by the Server I encountered. Hostess sat at the front on her phone, manager stated they were trying to turn the location around because there was obvious issues as a restaurant that's in the weeds with barely 20 patrons and most of whom were already eating or finishing meals it was an awful experience and I'd never set foot in that Applebee's again. We went next door to the Steak and Shake and I'm still waiting for the 70+ dollars I spent at Applebee's to be put back on my card....
Read moreRuined my birthday! Went there with a party of 15. Took over an hour for wait time (not that big of an issue it was [last] night). Sat down, server was nice despite multiple errors. Ordered food and drinks simultaneously to help avoid longer wait, took 10-20 minutes to get non-alcoholic drinks. One of my friends ordered an alcoholic beverage and never received it after being promised on multiple occasions that it was going to get picked up from bar. A delay on food prompted them to bring out chips and salsa "on the house." They brought out skimpy trays that didn't even go to the whole table. Then some people ordered appetizers along with their meals including myself, received 2/3 appetizers from samplers, received half made salads and no dressing, cheese sticks with no marinara sauce. When asked, again being promised to bring missing items and missing items were never received. The manager Joe Caldwell made an appearance to our table and in the midst of trying to explain our concerns, we were cut off, dismissed and did not see him until the food started coming out about. Once good started coming out more issues with meals, meals are missing, again there are missing items with meals, meals not properly cooked, bringing out the wrong meals, attitudes from employees who are helping because they're helping with no direction from the manager, just complete chaos and disaster. At this point we are returning meals for issues and people are frustrated and disappointed with the service! We pretty much wasted 3 hours to barely eat anything. So to correct it, Joe decided he would discount all of our appetizers which was a no deal because we did not eat majority of the food given to us. So after speaking with the server (who still remained calm through this all) had our food removed from our bills and pretty much we wound up paying for drinks and a few meals. Pretty sure they lost over $200 worth of revenue from us just in this one trip. We never saw the manager again. And after it all, we overheard the servers discussing the situation and even the employees complained and said that their manager has "no sense of customer service, hospitality and the only reason he has that job is because of paperwork... because no one else wanted to take the job." That is a bad note and to hear employees say that out loud and maybe Mr. Caldwell should not be in this position...
Read moreI only gave this place one star as I couldn't give it zero stars. It doesn't even deserve 1 star. This place had to be one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had.
There were 5 other customers not including us and 2 servers and a bar tender to handle the customers. We waited over 15 minutes before finally getting a manager to our table, no greeting from anyone, no drinks, jothing at all. We saw our server at about 2 minutes in but she never even acknowledged we were there nor said "just a minute". At about 8 minutes I asked the hostess for a server or a manager, she went back in the kitchen for a few minutes and we still got nothing.
Mind you there were 4 tables being serviced by another server and from what I could see was serving them well. In and out of the kitchen many many times in our 15 minutes. Our server brought out an appetizer to the table next to us after about 5 minutes in and never ever returned. I asked the hostess to get us a manager this time cause I was tired of waiting. I didn't make a scene but was not happy.
Just before the manager came out, the bartender decided to yell at us 6 tables that they were short staffed and the servers would get to us when they can and we should all calm down and relax!?! Are you friggen kidding me? Never before in my life have I experienced anything like this. Well ms bartender,maybe next time, you and the manager get off your lazy butts and see how you can help. Ms bartender you could have greeted and given us drinks and even taken our order while doing absolutely nothing at all.
The manager did come out and acted oblivious to our plight. What was she doing all this time in the back without knowing of the service problems in the front. This manager was clueless as to how to manage a restaurant, it's obvious to me why the restaurant was so bad, just look at the management.
To the owners of this franchise, please do yourself a favor and close the doors and ir change the name to something as you are giving customers a really bad impression amount Applebee's. Not a single customer should ever have to wait 15 minutes to be greeted or get drinks. Not a single customer should ever be yelled at by a bartender about their sown shortcomings.
