In addition to an Ackee and salt fish meal, and other knick knacks, I ordered a small Oxtail meal. While the server was preparing my oxtail meal. The supervisor (lady in a red shirt) apparently distracted her by reminding her to get "the oxtail container". I was told that the oxtail is put in a separate container ("for a while"). I am from out of town, and I have never experienced this in any other GK in the north. After thought I realized that this was a way to control the portions of the oxtail. I was asked if I wanted sides. I said yes. When I got home I only had white rice in a container....no vegetables or plantain. I called the store spoke with one of the supervisors. She wanted me to send a pic of the receipt and the food container....had to search for my receipt....but I did. The supervisor asked me if I was coming back for the food. I said yes because I paid for it. When I went back I spoke with the supervisor in the red shirt. The one I spoke to on the phone was there. The ,"red shirt" wS skeptical that I didnt get my food until the other supervisor confirmed that I didnt. A server was preparing the vegetables in a container then she was placing the plantains in the same container. I tlld her I wanted them in separate containers. I got push back. Server told me that the supervisor said to put them in same container....got push back again. Staff standing around was looking as if I was speaking a foreign language ir being unreasonable. Eventually the "red shirt" said it was okay. I cannot understand what was the issue in placing in separate containers. Like I told them I am not asking for 2 full containers I just wanted them separated. The fact that THEY made a mistake and I had to INCONVENIENCED MYSELF to drive 20 mins to come back for the food, meeting my needs should not have been an issue. In fact I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A FULL SIDE ORDER FOR BOTH. Any experienced manager supervisor with knowledge of customer service skills would have know ir done that. Poor customer service. To top it off the service kept repeating thst she was told to put them together " so don't blame me". I told her 2 times I was not and it wasn't her fault yet she kept repeating it...and after the 5th time she had an attitude and tone in her voice. Need some customer...
Read moreMy first impression of this Golden Krust was great as the setup is similar to that of the traditional American diner which is the way to go for this type of business. However, as soon as we (myself and two others) went inside to order our meals, the air became sour! The female that served our food had a poor attitude and demeanor which is not consistent with civilized customer service. From all indications, she has left all the way from Jamaica with a very poor attitude which would need correcting if Golden Krust plans to meet its number goals. She appeared to be a team lead as she was 'training' an African American girl to do the work that she was doing. Customer service was also lacking as after our meals were rationed into the boxes, the females at the front had a long, casual, unprofessional, laugh out loud conversation before cashing our meals at the register. The said female with the bad attitude cashed our meals and by the time we received them, they were cold! We decided to dine-in and they continued their (unprofessional & loud) conversation.
The taste of the food is consistent with GK but with a lot more grease. For the breakfast meals that consisted of ackee, 1 boiled banana, 1 fried dumpling and 2 pieces of plantain, I paid $11 each which is a pretty high markup considering the minimal contents.
I sincerely hope the owner will soon recognize how these factors especially poor customer service in America can affect...
Read moreI visited this Jamaican restaurant for the first time on Saturday April 6, 2024 at around 7pm with a male friend. To say that I had a disappointing experience would be an understatement. The reverse colorism that I felt from the moment I walked into the establishment was ASTOUNDING. I walked to the front of the register to proceed to order. A woman, who I assume to be the manager behind the counter, told me that I had to go back to the entryway to order, but allowed my Black male friend to proceed with his from the register, though we were looking at the same menu, which was at the front of the register by the way. The female employees, including the manager, looked at me, speaking amongst themselves as they laughed and snared. I felt extremely unwelcomed. They were much friendlier with my male friend and rude to me. When I approached the counter at the end of my meal to ask for a to-go bag, they stared at me and proceeded to once again talk amongst themselves and ignore my existence. After what felt like 15 minutes, I spoke up and asked for a bag. I left the restaurant feeling awful, as if I had done something wrong. I wasn't much lighter in complexion than the Jamaician employees but was extremely confused as to why I was getting cold treatment. This has never happened to me before but I wouldn't wish that experience on my worst enemy. This was my first time having Jamaican food and they completely ruined the...
