I have been a member of BJ's for the past 23 years and I would frequent that store two to three times a week to purchase groceries and propane.one occasion puchasing propane I had an issue with the propane attendant it had an attitude like you did not want to fill my propane or do his job. Add I said to him all I want is what I paid for and please give me my propane he got on his microphone and called his store manager. In short the manager believed his side of the story and asked me to leave the store without refunding my money for the propane. I demanded my refund and he the manager demanded me to leave the store or he would call the police. At that point I called the police because the BJ's store manager would not refund my money. The police made the report and I received my refund. But the store manager did make false statements that I was swearing and cursing and I was not I was a gentleman. I left the store and started shopping at the Derby location 12 miles out of my way. So last week I went back to the Stratford store and hope that things have changed there. The first time I went back I purchased groceries and propane with no problems. Went back a week after that to the Stratford BJ's and it was like that manager was waiting for me. I already purchased the propane and he walked out of the store directly to me with a big tall guy. As if he needed backup for some kind of incident that was to occur. I felt somewhat threatened. The manager said to me you can have the propane that you purchased today but do not come back to my store. And he made statements referring to the original incident that I was told not to come back to the store by the police and himself. At which I never was told that by either. I feel I am the customer and the customers always right until proven wrong. The propane attendant who started the incident I learned that he was fired from the store for having a bad attitude. I am a member BJ's and I have a right to shop at that store not be treated as so disrespectfully by that manager. I have been calling in reporting this incident since it occurred to corporate headquarter s and I did not receive a response it is like trying to talk to the president which would be easier than to talk to a person at corporate headquarters I don't understand and I don't feel their idea of customer service is true to the definition of customer service.without the customers BJ's would be nothing. I believe it's of course it's all about the money BJ's makes off its customers. But really there's no customer service. I'm still waiting for calls from corporate headquarters have reported this incident numerous times I'm waiting for the regional manager of the Stratford location to call me back with no response. I feel that I will end up canceling my membership after 20 plus years on and off relationship with their store. I wish I could give negative Stars for the way I've...
Read moreStore manager has a complete lack of empathy, I placed a online order to be ready for pickup between 8-9pm (as I always do there) i get off work around 815-820pm, and takes me 15 mins to drive there, I got off work late this night due to something thag happened so I called them up around 840pm and spoke with a lady and i explained to her imma be there right around 9pm my gps showing 901pm arrival and please i need to get these 7 items for my kids for breakfast in morning etc (cause Friday, Saturday, sunday i work from 8am-10pm) so obviously cant make it to BJs then, I make it inside the store at 901pm I tell the lady she says wait by pickup area, so im there for 9-10 mins, this older white gentlemen walks by and says we are closed, im like sir i was here for past 10 mins i have a online order thats ready for pickup etc etc, he says nope nothing I can do you cant get it, i explain what happened and even called in, and i really need these 7 items which are for my kids please, (Milk, Fruity pebbles, Cinnamon toast crunch, Strawberries, Lemonade 3pack, bagels and Cream cheese) im begging him and even said i was here waiting since 901pm, and rushed on highway etc, he says nope and you can go to walmart thats open till 11pm, im like sir can i then go get the items myself? (I can get all them 7 items that are paid already in less then 5 mins since i know where everything is at, and i say this suggestion since theres still people in the store shopping) he says no again and that he cant do nothing, meanwhile the girl by counter is looking like damn the order is literally right there inside the little room, im telling him bro its right there and the milk is in the fridge, he took it upon himself to say nope cant do it and that the system wont let him do it etc, everything is ready to go and get picked up and paid for, its not like i got there at 915pm and was being unreasonable, i again said sir please man its for my 2 kids who need breakfast for next few days since Im not home on weekends due to my schedule and this guy took it upon himself to make it personal, 901pm i was there.. smh… safe to say BJs lost me and my family as a customer and I know they dont care cause they have so much business and volume, but what he did to me was eye opening and...
Read moreI went here on Saturday to buy a few items and paid via the self checkout. When I got home I realized there was an item on the bill - a case of water - that I did not buy.
They have receipt checkers on the way out who look at the printed item count and compare it to the number of items in your cart. The reason the store says they do this is for accuracy for the customer. That is a lie, it's not about accuracy for the customer because if it was this receipt checker would have told me I had 5 items in my cart and the receipt said 6. Then I could have had this item taken off but instead I paid an extra $8.49 for a case of water i didn't buy. The store only cares about errors in their favor, but if you somehow end up with extra items on your receipt that you didn't buy, don't rely on the receipt checkers to tell you, they will let you walk out paying for something you didn't leave with.
I think this happened because the person in the next self checkout lane tried using the scanner for my register instead of theirs, and I didn't realize the item they attempted to scan actually scanned and was on my bill.
BJ's if you're going to post receipt checkers at the door "for accuracy" then actually do it, whether or not the error is in your favor. As a customer, I find it very under handed that you would let someone leave without all items that have been paid for. That's a...
