Copps Island Oyster Shack — Restaurant in Stratford

This was maybe my third time here between 2023 and 2024. Two of the three times I had a bad experience. I ordered a medium cheeseburger and it was mushy and raw in the center. I brought it back to the window. I didn’t want a new cheeseburger, wanted them to maybe just cook the one I had more and whoever was in charge gave me such an argument about it I wasn’t asking for anything free. I just wanted a cheeseburger cooked, medium, not medium rare. It was a big ordeal. Last night I ordered a dozen fried clams when I tell you they were mushy, rubbery and not cooked. I didn’t dare complain because I didn’t want to deal with it. My friend who was with me ordered a lobster roll and she orderslobster rolls everywhere and she was disappointed. She said it was mushy. I think it could be a really good experience and I’m sure the food is good and the fish is fresh but I think it depends who cooks it and who’s there over seeing the cooking? The food Is hit or miss and it’s too expensive to be a miss...

Its a food truck by the bay with lots of nice boats to look at. There are a few picnic tables so make sure to time your visit accordingly. We went early and didn't have any issues but by the time we were packing up the kids we had people hovering over our table.

Bring your own drinks! They are expensive, very limited and do not offer tap water.

The hot lobster rolls were very tasty with the right amount of butter and a bit of shallots on top. The portions were a bit small. The hot dogs and chicken tenders for the kids were a bit over done. The onion rings were more like onion strings and about a forth of them had blackened edges.

Also the staff was a bit matter of fact and not so friendly. A bit of attitude was given when we asked for an additional fork, cups and straws for the kids.

We were very disappointed. After reading the reviews before going, we were excited to try a new place. The casual marina dining was relaxing and inviting. The food however left a lot to be desired. We got the shrimp cocktail though well presented, tasted meely and rubbery. They were small for the price and tasted as if they were previously frozen and thawed in hot water. One bite and sent it back. I got the Oyster crisp, the cherry pepper gastrique overwelmed the oysters which were not very crisp at all. My husband got the lobster roll, which was average, nothing special about it. Safe to say, it will take a VERY long time before we give them a second chance. Would rather spend the $70 at the local seafood market and cook for our selves. The staff was friendly, accomodating and the outdoor eating area was clean,...
