Stratford Skillet — Restaurant in Stratford

I'm over 1 1/2 hours away from where I was from. While I was waiting for my cat to be done with his surgery I brought my aunt to eat breakfast the 1st thing we started with was hot coffee. A big Red lipstick mark was on my cup (It happens) But while I was waiting for the waitress to come back my aunt ended getting up to get me a new cup then filled it up with coffee. Nobody even said anything as they walked by her doing their job. So I order some French toast which by surprise the bread was dark yellow and not what I would say was the French toast I'm used to. Then comes the homemade home fries You know you can't go wrong with those They looked great with peppers mixed throughout (I'm being honest) They didn't taste good at all. I couldn't even eat them. They tasted like old oil that they may have squeezed out from a bottle and mixed It all together. I've never had bad tasting home fries especially Home made. The waitress was new and didn't say thank you or reply if you said thank you to her it was like you never said a word when talking to her. The other waitress on the other hand was very kind and worked very hard! Everyone has their own opinion done may like it but it's a no for me. If I had a choice of this place or another I wouldn't go back to...

We had the Stratford Skillet and an omelette. Food was good and service was great until it was time to go. (There were 3 waitstaff on.) We asked for the check and kept waiting so we decided to just go to the counter (where you pay anyway). We asked for a to-go container and the woman said “Is your food still on the table? She’s going to clear it!” So we kept a vigilant eye on the leftovers while she prepared the check, and then as I’m looking it over and signing I said, “can we have a container?” She snapped “I can’t do 3 things at once!” (At this point, my hand that was writing in the gratuity paused.) No, but perhaps you could ask one of the other two servers to get one? Or to grab the plate with the leftovers and bring it to the counter? The place was about half-full - her comment was unnecessary. I did tip, but not as much as I would have before this...

Simple diner, seat yourself. Went around 9am for breakfast. Took about 5 minutes for a server to notice me.

Coffee tasted burnt. Got a side of Biscuits & Gravy, my gravy tasted and looked more like a clam chowder and not the white sausage gravy taste from most places.

Toast only had butter in the center and was not spread evenly. Might be hard to tell in the picture but the corn beef was undercook in the center. Barely any seasoning on the corn beef, there was salt & pepper shakers on the table to add as you wish.

The home potatoe fries tasted like a dash of old bay seasoning and a hint of collard greens, very different from what I was expecting so it really wasn't to my taste.

Seems to be a popular spot with locals, there was take out orders being picked up almost every 5 minutes while I was dining.

Prices were okay but I would not come back for...
