A friend and I were passing thru Sturgeon Bay, decided to get lunch at Danâd Kitchen. We were the only 2 people there. Staff were totally disinterested in being in a service industry. No hellos, no smiles. We had to ask twice to get Diet Cokes. We ordered Crab Rangoon appetizer. It was a serving of just 2. But, they were delicious! I ordered their version of shrimp Tom Yum soup. It was a huge bowl, enough for 2 or 3 people. It was watery, spicier than expected and that high level cayenne (?) prevented tasting any other ingredients. I asked for a ladle of some kind but was told they had none. So to share this we had only the normal soup spoon to use. With such a watery soup that was not an easy way to put a serving into our soup bowls. The shrimp was overcooked. My friend had their beef Pad Thai, usually a âsafeâ choice as it seems no Thai restaurant ever makes a bad Pad Thai. Until Danâs. Theirs was watery, probably a level 3 on the hot spice sideâshe was not asked what level sheâd like. Most Thai places have asked that. The beef was over cooked & tough, in small quantityâa good thing as it turned out because of previous description. It seemed there were 3 staff, not including the unseen cook. And only my friend & me. No one came to our table to ask how we liked the food, etc. We made the mistake of seating ourselves at a totally empty table & 1/2 way thru the meal took a closer look at the other tables to realize they all had misc condiments. None of the staff brought a tray of them to our table. We couldâve just walked over & gotten one, yes. But this was just another staff inaction that basically told us theyâd rather be anywhere but at work. When we paid our bill my friend noticed they had large plastic bags of mixed flavored popcorn & bought one. She just called to say it was âterribleâ with many pieces burnt. All in all a most disappointing meal, staff, restaurant. I see itâs called âthe best Thai restaurant in Sturgeon Bayâ. When youâre the ONLY Thai restaurant in a city itâs easy to call yourself âthe bestâ. But itâs also, to my friend & me, âthe worstâ. I cannot recommend this...
Read moreNew restaurant alert!! . . And you know I love trying out new places. @downtowngreenbay posted about a new place opening downtown. It popped up on my feed at the perfect time. The kids just got out of classes, so I forwarded them the post. "If you order it and bring it home, it'll be my treat." đ Dinner is done!! With leftovers for a few days... I was excited to try a bit of everything at @danskitchengb located in the Olde Main Street district. Food is Thai and Hmong flavors. We ordered Basil Stir Fry, Sweet Chicken, Curry Noodles with chicken, Squash Curry with tofu, Pork Belly, Sticky rice, and Papaya Salad. It took about 30 minutes to prepare our order. We did have a decent sized order, and the pork belly was cooked fresh for us. Time was spent browsing other stores by Dan's Kitchen southeast Asian cuisine. Every dish was delicious. I think tho that the sweet chicken should have a veggie on the side. The Curry Noodles could do with a bit more Curry sauce, I like saucy noodles. The location of this restaurant is perfect to add to that area. Next time, I will need to try one of their many different flavors of bubble tea. *Note: Google only seems to recognize the Sturgeon Bay location. That location has closed, and this one is in downtown...
Read more02/28/2025 Green Bay Location I ordered pho, drunken noodles, chicken pad thai, egg rolls, spring rolls, and papaya at 06:45pm. I got my pho, pad thai, and drunken noodles fairly fast, however the other items I didn't receive it until 45 minutes later when I mentioned to them at the front desk that I haven't received these items. About an hour later I went back up to the desk and asked them to just put my papaya into a container for me to take it home since they're about to close and I didn't want to be the reason they stay behind late to clean.
Pho wasn't the greatest. It was basically beef cooked for long hours and salt added into it. Not real pho broth definitely needs work on the broth. Not worth the price, could make it at home for the flavor they made it.
Chicken Pad Thai was water down. Could taste a little of the pad thai sauce. Not worth the price.
Spring rolls, it was okay. Sauce needs work and the filling in the rice paper wrap too. Otherwise, I guess it's worth the price they have.
Egg Rolls were okay.
Overall, the experience wasn't great at all. Service was bad, not attentive about details on orders, no checkups on customers to see if everything was fine, just terrible customer service. Won't be...
