We were a party of 2 and had never been here before. I give our server 5 stars so let that be known. Irene was great! Attentive and help guide us in the menu and answered all our questions and overall had a great attitude. Thank you for that Irene.
Where it fell short and the 3 stars. We were sat on the patio. The host sat us and just quickly walked us to our table and then quickly rushed away. We were a little confused, Like is this where we are suppose to sit or what. We had requested the patio where we were sat but Oh My GOD! it was so messy on the floor under the table. Dirty paper napkins, napkin rings, pizza crust, pepperoni. As I looked around. It was like this under ever single table.
It was pretty busy at the time we arrived and things dragged out a little but I noticed our poor server had tables everywhere. Like there wasn't an actual section. So she was running around inside outside, one side of the patio to the other. She did great though. I would strongly suggest to better serve your guests that you give sections to your waitstaff. So they can better serve your guests.
As we sat on the patio, I would suggest wearing long pants as because there was so much debris on the floor, there were also a lot of bugs. And the flies out here really like to bite. So I definitely got bit by many flies and it was just an overall uncomfortable dining experience.
The table behind me broke a glass and shards of glass shot into my legs, Not the restaurant or waitstaff fault but just chaos. The views were nice but I think if I tried this place again I would sit inside.
The food was good. I recommend the neapolitan pizzas. You get your bang for your buck.
3 stars mainly because the atmosphere, the lack of communication from the host and because of cleanliness. Other than that...
Read moreVery disappointed with our dinner. We had a group of 13 on Saturday night and only 2 out of 13 liked their food. Everyone had the pizza buffet and struggled to find something that was good. The general consensus was that the fried chicken was dried out and tasteless, the pasta was tasteless, and really none of the pizzas were anything to write home about. The only good part of the dessert pizza was the topping. The only redeeming factor was the Tiramisu was delicious! Pizza was cold and dried out, almost like it is reheated by the heat lamps and not actually made fresh to replenish the buffet. This is our 3rd time at Sonny’s so we decided to bring the whole family this time, but it ended up being a big failure. To boot, they stuffed us in a corner that really should’ve been for 8 people. 4 people had to sit on the corners of the rectangular table and one had to sit in the corner by the fire exit and hold their plate in their hand. Not really a great showing for this place. The drinks were strong and reasonably priced so that was good. I am betting that the majority of the reviews are due to some alcohol influence On top of it all, we had called ahead to find out the price, which we were told was $15.99 over the phone. So, when we got the bill and found out that they had charged us $17.99 per person, we were pretty irritated. We asked for the manager and of course no one owned up to the phone conversation so they wouldn’t do anything for us. So $18 for terrible Pizza… you would be better off going to a different more expensive Italian...
Read moreRecently, we picked up a pizza from Sonny’s and, upon opening the box at home, were shocked to find that there was no crust. It is incomprehensible to me how a pizza can be made without a crust. The picture clearly shows that all we had was some caramelized cheese around the edges and a scattering of toppings. After calling the restaurant to voice our complaint, the woman who answered was noticeably unsympathetic. While we insisted on receiving a new pizza, her attitude made it clear that she viewed this situation as an inconvenience. Additionally, we requested compensation for our trip back to Sturgeon Bay, and she begrudgingly agreed to reduce the pizza’s price by half. When we arrived to pick up the replacement pizza, it was obvious that we were the butt of a joke among the staff, who found our situation amusing. They tried to convince us that there was a crust after all, just a very small one. This entire experience is unacceptable, especially given our long history as loyal customers of Sonny’s, dating back to when they were at their previous location, where we always enjoyed their food. It is clear that Sonny’s has lost sight of how to treat its loyal customers. I suspect much of this issue stems from the woman supervising the staff, who appears in numerous negative reviews. I will not continue to support a business that disrespects its patrons. On the bright side, this situation gives us a reason to explore other pizza options...
