This place was brought up at work, so I had to look up the reviews and saw an overwhelming high star rating. Brought my wife and daughter here this past Sunday for an early dinner. It.. was.. excellent!
Fortunately for us, it was just slow enough that we were able to have a great conversation with the owner, Rudy. What a great guy! Very nice, and very passionate about his food and his restaurant. My daughter got the chicken and steak fajitas. She can be kinda picky about her food and she said that these were her favorite from any where else we've gotten them. My wife had a huge plate of loaded nachos with ground beef. These were really, really good and had very fresh ingredients, and the margarita she had was very good! I had a hard time making up my mind, but went with the Enchiladas Del Rancho. Four shredded chicken enchiladas topped with fresh lettuce, pico de gallo, cheese and light enchilada sauce. NOT drowning in enchilada sauce. Can't say enough good about how fresh the food is and how delicious it is. Rudy told us that he likes to cook for his customers just like he cooks for his family at home. And that is how he made us feel.... like we were family.
He makes a fantastic hot sauce (and I bought a bottle of it!). Liquid gold! Very tasty and not too hot as to make your food inedible. Nice, slow burn. Chips, salsa and white sauce... amazing! The nice thing on the day we went in, was that if you did a Facebook check-in, you got a free dessert - churros or sopapillas. Went with the sopapillas and they were delicious. We also ordered a fried ice cream, which was equally great!
I cannot wait to go back and try some of their other menu items - especially the molcajetes, which is basically meat and veggies cooked in a hot stone bowl. Do yourself a favor and go see Rudy and his family! You'll be glad you did, but please, be patient with them if the food doesn't come out really fast like in a chain restaurant. He makes everything fresh and to order, which sets him way apart from most other Mexican...
Read moreWell, we're to begin? Drinks are huge. No complaints about that. Horchata was very good. Now, let's take a walk downhill. My hubby and I were in Suffolk. We go often. We wanted to try something new. So, we saw this place. Parking socks. We go in, order our food. It was lunchtime. We order off the lunch menu. Both decided on chimichanga burritos. One chicken and one beef. Comes with either rice or beans. Now, the lunch menu is supposed to be like half the size of the dinner menu. We get our chips. Very good. Salsa was good. White sauce, ummm nope. Avoid it. Looks are deceiving. We get our food. Pretty fast service. The food..... the size.... hahaha omg, we had to f'en laugh! McDonald's kiddie meals are 2xs bigger than these. It was the size of testers you get at Food Lion or Harris teeters. 🤣 Fill up on chips!!! The chicken chimichanga was bland, dry, and horrible! Taste more like 5 day old pork. The beef was good. Pricing? Ha, I guess if you call mexican food "cuisine," you can up the price. Oh, their sopapillas are flat. Kinda like their foods personality. And served with cinnamon sugar. Umm, that's not authentic. At all! Sopapillas is a fried fluffy bread that you eat as is or stuff with goodness. In other words, get taco bell. Atleast you get more for your money and some flavor! This is a once and done kinda place.
Drum roll, the owner will now disagree with my review. And say we should've talked to him. Nah, don't serve small arse kids meals to adults. Add some real flavor. I can come and show you how to flavor authentic Spanish food. And you know those chimichangas were wrapped with taco size tortillas. Don't get upset, owner. Just get better. And you have a...
Read moreFirst time visiting this restaurant, suggested by a friend. We were seated immediately by a very friendly young lady. We were soon greeted by our waitress , drink order was taken, as well as all questions answered, as the menu we were given did not show everything we saw online. My wife got chicken tacos, which she was raving over. I had one of the Jose Cuervo margaritas, which was on par with any other 'rita i have had. The chips and salsa were good, and my order of birria tacos were absolutely delicious, the best ones I have had in a restaurant. Leaving the cilantro and onions on the side is a nice feature for those who like more or less on a taco, the charro beans were about average as well, the beef consomme that comes with the birria tacos was absolutely perfect, and the small container of hot salsa was a perfect addition as well. I also had the shredded chicken quesadillas as a side. The quesadillas were good, but personally I would like some salsa or something to dip the quesadillas in, or something like a taco sauce/ roasted pepper sauce of some sort. That is the only thing I would change, if I could. Staff was very friendly, service was a little slow, but only really to a pace where you do not feel rushed. This is definitely a place we will be back to...
