GRAN RODEO — Restaurant in Suffolk

A year ago, I would have confidently given Gran Rodeo five stars, as it was my favorite Mexican restaurant. However, the quality has significantly declined over time, particularly with their consistently rubbery tortillas. This issue has been apparent in pick-up orders, deliveries, and dining in.

When ordering for pick-up or delivery, there is always uncertainty about whether chips will be included. For instance, I ordered a large cheese dip, but no chips were provided, rendering the dip useless. Even when I order an extra bag of chips, the complementary chips are often sent without the accompanying dips. On multiple occasions, my husband has found items missing from our orders, with about nine out of ten orders being incomplete.

Due to these recurring issues, I have stopped ordering delivery altogether. In one instance, we ordered chicken fajitas for two and a large cheese dip. The cheese dip arrived late, almost after we finished our meal, and our chips were never delivered. Moreover, a server mistakenly cleared the dip from our table, resulting in a wasted $7. During the same visit, we waited for almost an hour and saw our waitress only once, necessitating repeated requests to random waiters for assistance.

Additionally, the quality of the chicken and rice meal has deteriorated, with the chicken often containing tendons and fat, making it quite unpleasant. Given these consistent disappointments, I have since found another Mexican restaurant that meets my expectations, and I believe Gran Rodeo is now a thing...

Our favorite Mexican restaurant!!! Conveniently situated with plenty of parking in a free lot, very friendly staff, & consistently the BEST food—hands down!

First off, Gran Rodeo has the BEST salsa around! (That’s a basic necessity for a great Mexican restaurant right?!) Also, you could close your eyes & just point to anything on the menu and I personally guarantee you that it would be delicious.

We have tried almost all of the appetizer dips—all delicious. Our favorite is the Texas dip! The street tacos—all delicious. (I can’t remember the exact name of what my husband usually gets but if I remember, I will come back and edit that.)

All of the sauces are delicious & richly flavored. If you want an adult drink, their drinks are amazing as well!

As for the bar area, we’ve never actually sat at the bar here (as we always have our toddler with us), but the bar is a nice size and looks fun too! It would make a good date or friend meet-up spot for sure!

This restaurant always has a good-size crowd but they work very effectively in getting everyone seated & taken care of. For instance, we even went on Cinco de Mayo & only had to wait about 15 minutes for a large table of 8 & that’s pretty impressive!

I had never been here before and LOVE Mexican food. I usually go to azteca but wanted to try here. We went in and got seated right away and immediately got chips.....maybe 10 min or so finally got a waitress to get us drinks.....15 min later got them. (We're at abt 25 min) We had to look thru the menu to decide what we wanted because they did have a lot of yummy items. 15-20 min later waitress finally came back n took order. (45 min) It took another 40 min to get our food n they weren't even that busy!!!! Also, only got 2 out of the 3 meals, my daughters meal came another almost 15 min later n by then hers was the only 1 hot! They forget the xtra chz we ordered....12 min later I get up n walk to waitress station n shes on her way out w it. So now my food is completely cold, I had told mom n my daughter to go ahead n eat earlier. The waitress did give us 10% off because the waiter had given my daughters meal to some1 else. So, over n hr n a half to get all of our food!!! It was pretty good with the exception of too much lettuce and funky beans, however, the service n speed SUCKS!! I could've gone into azteca 6x n ate for as long as it took to even GET our food! I don't know if i will b going back, I think will drive the xtra few minutes to...
