I visited earlier this morning Sept 1, 25 and I was sooo disappointed. The food has never been great during either of my previous visits. But today the service and food were so bad that I won't be back. It was around 9:30 and it wasn't busy at all. I sat down while waiting for my friend and the waitress asked if I wanted something while I waited . I ordered coffee and a glass of water. My friend was at least 10 minutes out and I didn't receive my coffee or water before then. When the waitress returned we both ordered our drinks me again water and coffee. The waitress brought tea for my friend and my coffee. No water in sight. We ordered and I again asked for my glass of water with our order of food. I finally got my water with no straw ok no biggie I figured I would see her at some point before our food arrived. That didn't happen she was so fixated on some other table that we could never get her attention. I finally flagged down another server. When I got my French toast it was not dark enough and yes before you ask I gave the server an example of what I wanted the French toast to look like. Of course when I received it it was no where close to what I asked for and I relayed this to the server. She said ok and walked away. Typically food is taking away that is not wanted and even if for health reasons they throw it away and start a new batch this info is relayed to the customer. We waited and waited and waited and finally I just started to try and work with what I had. She eventually comes back and says that I put in another ticket and I told her that she took so long and said nothing when she left I started to try and eat what I had. My friend's skillet was not good either. It looked like it had just been thrown together. The server would disappear for such long periods of time or be fixated on that one table which by the way only had 2 people. Once that table left I figured things would get better NOT. I wanted to place a to go order. I finally placed and received my to go order which were two BLTs. I figured you can't go wrong with some basic as a BLT. The server brought the check on the hand held device. My friend paid and then when I pulled out my card to pay my check the server informs me oh I have to have them remove the ticket for the second order of French toast. I thought that was odd because the first order wasn't right so why you put in a totally new order. She disappears again and when she returns she just hands me the hand held with the total. I told her I want to see the itemized check. She seemed confused when I asked but took the hand held back and proceeded to pull up the detailed check. Once I paid I requested a printed receipt. I am usually a pretty good tipper and will usually start out at 18 percent. Needless to say her tip was no where near 15 percent or even 15 percent. My friend and I were also thinking about ordering pie to go but as we were walking out we took a look at the pies that were in the case near the entrance and the pies that we saw looked horrible. P.S. I have added a picture of the lettuce that was on one of the BLTs. Whoever placed that lettuce on the sandwich should be ashamed of themselves. I doubt very seriously if they would want something like...
Read moreI used to love Village Inn, the Suffolk College Drive location, but after today not so much anymore. I come every Sunday after church, the service is usually fantastic. However, today I received the worst service you could imagine, then the server proceeded to argue back and forth with me because she brought my order out wrong not once but twice. I asked my pancakes to be held until finished eating the other part of my order (typical). I order the same thing every Sunday, Corned Beef Hash With Eggs & Pancakes. The first time she brings out my pancakes she brings them in a To Go container. Why I don’t know, with a message scribbled on the container which she asks me to disregard, she just wanted to let the kitchen know they were my pancakes. Which tells me they were made when the food came up and she was giving me cold pancakes. Then I open the container and there’s chocolate syrup on them. I don’t like chocolate syrup. I told her this and asks if I wants them remade? I asked them to be remade and brought with butter (customary). She brings the second order of pancakes without butter and in another to go container. I asked for a plate. She brings a refrigerated cold plate and hands it to me. At this point I’m completely flabbergasted and cannot believe she handed me this cold plate. I asked why she gave me a refrigerated plate. She replied there were no brown plates available. I said, “So you expect me to eat hot pancakes on a cold plate?” She just stares at me. Now I’m not stupid, I know she knew better and did this to be smart. I then ask why are the pancakes even in a to go box to begin with? She said because you asked for them to be held. I’m like sure but I didn’t ask for them to go. I open the container and they are not even chocolate chip pancakes. They are plain pancakes with chocolate chips stuffed between each of the pancakes. I’m so annoyed at this point, because it’s essentially chocolate smeared on top of the pancakes. She says do you want them made over again, and now she’s frustrated at me. I’m like nope, I just want them removed from the check. I’m like these aren’t even chocolate chip pancakes! She says I’ll ask the manager. She returns and says she had the manager take .99¢ from my check, which was the cost of the chocolate chips added. I’m completely disgusted at this point. I’m like well I’m never coming back here again. And I’m sad because I really liked this place that I’ve gone 8 weeks in a row. I spoke to the manager when I paid the bill and he removed my meal from the check. While the server Natesa stood next to him to hear my complaints about the service. Moral of this story be prepared to fall in love and then be sorely disappointed and made to feel as though you are a nuisance when you expect your order to be correct and at the very least not argued with and met with sarcasm. Natesa definitely needs more training and maybe a position where she doesn’t have to deal with customers. I aired my complaint on my $98 bill and still gave her a tip. Why because...
Read moreI’ve been wanting to try this place for awhile now. Just got the opportunity while in town visiting my sister. We shopped then stopping in to have brunch. Upon entering no one greeted us while we stood there for at least 5 minutes waiting to be acknowledged by the staff we saw servicing other guest. That wasn’t a big deal because everyone is short staffed these days so we were patient and waited. We grabbed a couple of menus and began to decide what we wanted. A young lady eventually come over and pointed to an area and told us to select any table we wanted. We both ordered the chopped steak with mashed potatoes, smothered in brown gravy with mushrooms and onions served with green beans (my sister chose broccoli). It did not take to long for the food to arrive but it was no impressive in appearance or taste. There was no steam coming from anything and the gravy looked like it had been sitting on the food long enough to have the gravy skin thing going. It was salty and thick and vegetables were cold. The mashed potatoes crumbled and were not smooth and creamy as suggested on the menu. We asked for a manager and she promptly came out and apologized. We decided to try a breakfast skillet instead and that came out fresh and hot and in a timely manner. This time we both ordered the chicken fried steak with country gravy w/ sausage, eggs, hash browns and pancakes. Again the gravy was subpar and the hash browns tasted old like they had been around for awhile. The staff was really nice and I can tell the place has potential but I would not return because of the lack of quality food items they use. Hopefully the up their standard of food suppliers and...
