If I'm being honest, I would only give this place a 3 star. The BBQ isn't bad, the marinated meat was good but I just didn't like a few things about it. One being it doesn't have a lot of selection. Two is that they put a parchment paper over the grill. I know it's to make it easier to clean and not let the meat stuck to the grill but I really enjoy grilling meat without the paper. Now to their hot pot, how do I even start? We got the tom yum soup based and let's just say it's a complete fail. It was definitely not tom yum. I've tasted tom yum in many places before and this was not it. Tom yum is suppose to have a sour and spicy taste. No matter where you go, that is the basic flavor of tom yum. It can be more complicated but that is the based flavor, the minimum requirement of tom yum. But for the tom yum in this place, not only did it not have the flavor listed above, it also have this weird overwhelming aroma to it that is it really hard to eat. It resemble chinese traditional medicine. So I would put a warning here, if you can't stand the overwhelming taste of Chinese medicine in your food I would not recommend tom yum broth based. Thankfully we were able to switch to mushroom soup based. But honestly, it wasn't bad but definitely not so excellent I would come back.
The reason why I didn't give it an overall 3 star rating is because of the serves. Although the food wasn't excellent, the serves is very good. Our server is this vietnamese guy, pretty tall with glasses. I would say very good looking. But I was very impressed by his handling of our situation. When we called him over and asked about the soup based, he immediately offered to switch the soup based for us and even let us tasted the soup based before officially switching. Most server would be like well you ordered it so you better stick with it but he immediately solved our problem and tried to save our experiences which I'm very thankful for. He also often come and check up on us which is actually rare for server nowadays. If you're reading this sorry for the trouble about the soup based.
Now the important question is, would I come back? Not a chance if the soup based tasted like this. Would I recommend to other? Probably just for the serves not so much for the food. If the owner is reading this I hope you change the recipe for the soup based. Or at least the tom...

clean and spacious area. The decor is nice and trendy. Everything is very neatly kept. large variety and options for both BBQ and hot pot. Many choices of meat, vegetables, sauces, noodles, seafood, fruits, and desert. quick and attentive staff. But don't talk much. ribs. These were very tasty and their flavor was not compromised by the margarine used to oil the grills. This was the only meat I thoroughly enjoyed out of all that I tried.
Could improve: BBQ grill. Most other Korean BBQ restaurants switch grills whenever they start getting charred and produce a burnt smell. This restaurant opts to place a piece of parchment paper on the grill that's squirted with margarine. (The instructions on the napkin box state that it's butter but it tastes like margarine and has the color of margarine.) This makes it difficult for thin slices of meat to get crispy on the edges yet remain tender, which is a personal preference of mine. Additionally, the margarine squirted caused the meat to taste slightly like margarine regardless of the sauces I added to the meat before and after cooking it. Over all, this compromised the flavor and the experience of the meat. rice. The rice served was very gummy and tasted like it was over cooked or over watered. It compromised the already odd tasting meat.
I cannot speak on the hot pot aspect of this restaurant as I didn't try it. With the name 'Volcano Hotpot' i expected this to be an interesting expefience. For aproximately 35 dollars per person there are way better restaurants out there in the missouri city area and houston that provide better service, better atmosphere, better rice, and meat. This wasn't the worst place I've visited but I definitely will not be returning when there's higher...
Read moreHouston continues to amaze me with a variety of restaurants and culinary experience . If you are sucker for good hot pot place look no further than this korean bbq hot pot @volcanohotpotbbq888 . I was very pleased with the variety they had for both vegetarian and non-veg lovers.
The minute I walked in, I was amazed at the cleanliness, ambience and clearly this is a distinguishing aspect for this place. No sea food smell despite there being variety of sealife.
I was amazed at the variety of sauces, green healthy options, protein options for vegetarians , including a tasty broth! Yes you heard me right, the broth was very flavorful like no other, soaked in the right proportion of herbs, this was the right choice for us on a cold chilly 🥶 winter night.
Non veg spreads includes everything frog legs, squid, octopus and 4-5 different flavors of broth and my husband loved the flavorful meat options
This place wins for me for a bunch of reasons
A) variety of options (both veg and non veg), B) ambience and cleanliness , C) combination of hot pot and bbq on the same table (and reasonably priced per person, $29.99 unlimited)
Beyond all this, the staff was very friendly attentive, and provided quick service.
As a Sugarland localite, I am definitively going there again!
I’m no #foodinfluencer but wanted to give a genuine shout out to this business . I’ve been to other hot pot places in Houston and this one tops the list. Try it out, you wont be...
