Maria's Cocina Mexicana — Restaurant in Sulphur

I am in Lake Charles with my team for Hurricane Laura relief and this is the third time in a week that we have been to this restaurant. I wasn't with them the first time they came but the second time, our service was super-slow. My food was good so, even though the rest of my team had other issues with the food & the service, we decided to give them another chance tonight...BIG MISTAKE!! We were seated at 6:30. It took us 15 minutes to order our drinks and appetizers. It took another 20 minutes to get our food orders placed. We watched 3 other tables get seated, receive their food, eat , pay and leave in the 2 1/2 hours that we waited for our food. The waitress told us 3 times that our food was coming out next. The last time I spoke with her she told me that the kitchen lost our ticket twice. We asked to speak with the manager and he told us that the wait time was an hour, which wasn't true because again we watched 3 tables get seated, fed, and exited long after our order was taken. There were only 5 in our party and we ordered burritos, tacos, and quesadillas...standard Mexican restaurant fare. Our food finally came out at 8:42 pm - 2 hours and 12 minutes after we sat down. We asked to speak with the manager again but he avoided our table. He told the waitress to comp the meal but by then, the damage had been done. We will NEVER go to this restaurant again. Three strikes and you're out!! I'd rather drive an hour to Beaumont than to spend...

Tonight was my first and most likely last time eating here. I don't understand why businesses have an official website where they display their menu if management is not keeping up with it.

Wanted to get some good food after a long day at work and find this place pretty close to my hotel, looked at their menu and decided to give it a shot. The service was good, the waitress was polite and attentive but I had a bad experience at the end when I got my check. The plate that I liked from when I visited the website online had price of $14.99 (pollo loco) in the online menu but when I get my bill, the same plate was $20. I let the waitress know about it and she called the manager which basically said if I didn't see the menu when I ordered, he say that the price changed and they hasn't updated it online. I explained that I look the menu in the website before coming in to the restaurant and and mi mind already set in that (pollo loco) and that I didn't look the menu that they have in the restaurant.

At the end, calling the manager was a loss of time, he didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. I'm staying 3 more weeks here for work and is a shame because is literally next to where I'm staying but I'm not spending one more cent...

When we first arrived, a band was playing. It was really loud. So loud we had to get close to each other and almost yell to hear each other. I admit, this kind of set the tone for the evening. Not an enjoyable one. Our server was extremely nice and understanding. It took us a few minutes to get our order in over the music. After she took our order, the music got a little lower, but was still loud. When our food came (and really fast), there was one plate missing. Seems our waitress forgot to put my order in. One of our orders was a vegetarian plate, but the burrito had seemed like it had meat. The waitress showed us the order was a vegetarian plate on the receipt. I tried the meat and it did taste different from other meat. I was very pleased with flavor of the food. The salsa that came with the chips was perfect. Most Mexican restaurants have their salsa too spicy or just mild with no flavor. Maria's salsa was chunky with onions, bellpeppers and tomatoes. Very enjoyable. I plan to go again when the band is not there. They are there on...
