We have been coming to Luminary for brunch since they started serving it. This recent time has been the most disappointing experience we have had. We were a party of 8, besides us, there were maybe 2 to 3 other tables, not packed by any means. 3 crab cake / egg orders, 1 breakfast pizza, 1 chicken & Belgian waffles, a cinnamon roll, a chicken salad sandwich, and dippy eggs with bacon and toast.
To start, the breakfast potato’s that came with the majority of the orders were cold, wrinkly, as if they were pre cooked and set to the side for the day. The bacon was sloppy and seemed like it barely touched the grill top. All 3 crab cake orders were lukewarm at best. The cinnamon roll seemed homemade, but was also served cold. The toast for the dippy eggs was not brought out with the order, by the time it was, the eggs were cold and the toast was not buttered and instead came with 2 cold butter packs. The breakfast pizza seemed like it was also thrown together with pre cooked items and was close to room temp. The real kicker was the chicken and waffles with hot honey. It came with 2 small pre packaged chicken tenders and about 4-6 very thin waffle wedges. This dish was actually warm, but that was the only highlight. At least 3 of the waffle wedges were dark brown and crunchy like a potato chip as if they had been fried and not out of an actual waffle maker. Even iHop has proper Belgian waffles that come out thick and fluffy. There was a very small drizzle of the hot honey on the 2 tenders, and a small thimble of syrup for the entire meal. On top of the experience, there were also menu changes that seemed to reflect the place going cheap and switching to more pre packaged items for the menu.
All this to say, we will not be back. We had all raved about Luminary’s brunch and always had a friendly experience as well as good food. It’s so disappointing when local places go down hill like this. Not sure if it’s staffing issues or an attempt at cutting costs by serving lack luster items, which aren’t the cheapest either. Used to be worth the money, but I recommend anyone stay far away and spend that...
Read moreWalking in it is a very nice set up. It is a nice rustic look and open concept place. First my party had to wait for a table and sat at the bar to wait for table. The first set of drinks we got were actually very tasty. Finally, we were called for our table. It took around 20-30 minutes before we were waited on. We got the sous vide pork belly for a starter and we all ordered burgers for our entrée. The sous vide pork almost took 1 hour to get to the table. The pork was absolutely amazing. If the night ended there I would have rated the place an 8/10 with the 8 being because of the long wait. But, It is now almost 2 hours in and we are getting our entrées. I got the completely wrong meal while everyone else got theirs. Finally got my meal, but it was still incorrect. I didn't get the correct fries. I would have said something but the waiting staff was never anywhere to be seen. My burger and my significant others burger was burnt to a crisp. I could hardly stomach mine. It was basically charred with no seasoning. My significant other couldn't even make it through half. We all tried to get out of there as fast as possible but it almost took an extra 30 minutes before we were able to cash out. The drinks are amazing but the food is not. I don't see myself ever returning and the drinks weren't good enough to make up for the horrible service and the...
Read moreFuhrman’s is amazing. I am lucky enough to work about a quarter of a mile up the road from the cider mill. I stop here all the time before work, on my lunch break, and sometimes after work. The building itself is really nice and it has a homey feel to it. There are so many things to love about this place. The coffee is good and it’s only $1 for a 12-oz. Their donuts are massive, fresh, and delicious and only $4.50 for ½ dozen and $8 for a dozen. People at work usually have to split them in half and share them because they’re so big. Beat that, coffee chains/donut shops. My favorite is the peanut butter fluff filled donut with chocolate on top. They have a wide selection of other baked goods. I’m hooked on their filled cookies. They have apple fritters that are bigger than your face, pies, packzi, and even chocolate-covered bacon. They have good daily lunch specials if you’re feeling especially carnivorous and want something hearty. I like the Smith’s ox roast, the Philly steak and cheese sandwich, the BBQ ham sandwich, and their chili. The cider is phenomenal. It’s a little pricey, but worth it. They also have good bottled root beer. They have a lot of neat gift items inside, too, and stuff like local jams and maple syrup. It’s family-owned and operated and everyone is always super friendly. I enjoy supporting this...
