Do not order cakes online. What a wild experience. I ordered a cake at 1:30pm on October 1 for pickup October 2nd 8:30am so I could get it before work. I got an email confirmation from Bake on my order. At 8:20am on Oct 2 as I’m leaving the house to pick it up they call me and say they don’t have the cake I ordered and paid for. So I swap it for a different vanilla cake. I arrive at 8:40am and the cake isn’t ready. The cake comes out at 8:45 and it’s a blood red hideous cake which makes no sense for a vanilla cake… they take another 10 minutes trying to box it. So now it’s 8:55 and I expressed how upset I was with the cake, and instead of apologizing the very first thing out of the woman’s mouth was “WHY DIDNT YOU SAY SOMETHING WHEN WE WERE BOXING IT” and I mentioned that I am already late for work and didn’t think there was time to swap it (I didn’t know it would take an entire 10 minutes for them to figure out how to box a cake). She offered to swap cakes but I was already late for work.
I expressed that I ordered the cake the day before and should have been contacted earlier, and in response the woman literally blamed me for ordering on their website. She said I should have called because their website isn’t always accurate. So this is my fault. … I will let you be the judge on whether you think that’s an appropriate response. At one point i asked her to consider if she was in my shoes how she would feel with this treatment and response.
Anyway, I love Bake in general but this experience was wild. I cannot imagine blaming a customer for using my company’s website to...
Read moreI gave Bake 1 Star because: 1) They treated me poorly and it appeared to me that they don’t treat all customers equally well, 2) I had a severe reaction (vomiting, diarrhea) from eating a chocolate layered cream puff with fresh blueberries topping and a hint of raspberries flavored cream filling that I bought there. I usually patronize Natale because they are always nice to me and I like their pastries and bread, especially their sesame dinner rolls. However, I decided to purchase some pastries from Bake because they just opened in Summit not too long ago and I wanted to give them some business. I bought $95.74 worth of pastries and bread. After the unfortunate experience from eating the chocolate cream puff, I returned to talk to the owner. He refused to speak with me and threatened to call the police if I don’t leave. I am not allergic to any food. In fact, I have a strong constitution and a healthy digestive system. But this was the very first time that I experienced painful illness from eating a pastry. I was treated at NYU Langone Emergency Department because I was vomiting, had diarrhea and was sweating profusely and had severe stomach pain. This terrible ordeal pretty much ruined Memorial...
Read moreSecond time bad experience with staff miss-communication. First time I clearly mentioned that I want vegetarian/vegan filled bread. Girl pointed us to spinach stuffed sourdough and eventually gave us two ham stuffed. We had to toss $16 into bin and bare the stress of a hungry teenager after sport. Gave her a benefit of the doubt, it can happen to anyone. Today again I turn up asking basic question, how do I know the price of each laid pastries and cakes? Staff said I need to ask her and she will tell me. After asking for two items, I settled for cupcakes which the staff said $3. Eventually at the payments she said $3.85. This is the problem, unclear communication. I must admit its not her, but looks like a management attitude of taking customers casually. Perhaps business is good now, may not be always with this attitude. SORRY NEVER...
