So this is kinda a mixed bag. The service was excellent and the vibe was awesome! The drinks were okay and the food was mediocre at best. The staff were all young and had a great vibe to them and they were helpful in every conceivable way. They were knowledgeable about the restaurant, it's menu and the drinks the restaurant serves. But, of course that is to be expected. But, they were also knowledgeable about the town, the nearby businesses and even where the best places to get coffee in the morning! With all of that going for Sorci's I really wanted to love the food. Unfortunately, the food lacked flavor and the chicken which they used in the chicken fettuccine alfredo was very fatty, and did not have much flavor. The pumpkin ravioli also did not have much flavor but the vegetables were fresh. In this case it was the pasta that was wanting. The drinks on the other hand were excellent and the recommendations the waiter made were accurate and spot on. This includes him bringing a sample of the house rum to taste before ordering. This is definitely a great place to hang out with friends and to have a good stiff drink or two. And it is definitely worth the trip. Five stars all day long if it were just a bar or tasting room but unfortunately it is still a restaurant.

Simplicity at a price. To get to the point right away. A lot of Italian places are great for their home made sauces. This place has a great red sauce that's got good flavor and isn't acidic with decent seasoning. That being said, I got the tuttu pizza. The crust tasted distinctly like a red baron pizza crust. It killed a really good tasting pizza. The shrimp scampi is really lacking salt and we used the dips from the bruschetta to liven it up. The staff was amazing and knowledgeable. Don't mistake that part, but none of this accounts for mediocre food. The atmosphere is nice enough, but to the tune of a 32 dollar pizza that's 12 inches, simplicity and ok ingredients doesn't solve keeping things simple and understanding for their price. Fix the dough on the pizza, add some seasoning to the pasta and extras or fat alternatives to add to the meal or acid for plain pasta or butter... Something.

I had just the most wonderful dining experience here the other afternoon for administrative professionals day. The atmosphere is so rustic Italian, it's beautiful. The staff was very friendly and they have a full bar! One of the ladies who took care of our table was also the bartender, she was a great sport when I asked her to surprise me with a drink of her choice and she did not disappoint! She did the same for my meal suggestion! I love that kind of service, it makes me want to stay foreverrrrr! The food was incredible from our appetizer choices to our main entrees! So full of flavor and not rushed! I did think the side salad we had should come free with every entree but other than that I had a fabulous time and delicious food! I'll definitely be back again!

SORCI’S, SUMNER: WORST DINING EXPERIENCE

I never complain, but the overall terrible experience my family and I had at Sorci’s in Sumner on Saturday evening, April 3 simply can’t be ignored.

My wife and I, our adult son and daughter and their families, including our four younger grandchildren wanted to celebrate Easter with a nice, special family dinner out. We arrived at Sorci's 5 minutes before the 7:30 reservation time my son had gotten many days earlier. We were informed they did have our reservation but that it would be a few minutes before the table would be ready… but we could wait out in the patio. While we were not dressed to sit outside, we figured we could tough it out for 5-10 minutes.

While portions of the patio do have overhead head, we were seated in the only available patio area — an exposed side with no heat or plastic barriers so the cold wind was blowing on us all. My son, who had made the reservation, politely asked several times when our reserved inside table inside would be ready and was told they were waiting for the people they had given our reserved table to, to be finished. Finally, after more strongly protesting we were able to move inside — AFTER shivering in the cold for 45 minutes!

As I said, I never complain, but for all of us, the dining experience we hoped for at Sorci’s went downhill further from there. When the food came, the fettuccine was barely warm and more watery than rich and creamy. My lasagna was tasteless and very dry — I suspect cooked weeks earlier and then re-heated. My wife’s chicken piccata included risotto served in a solid clump… also tasteless. Etcetera. Before long, at 9:00, they were turning off the “Open" sign. It didn’t matter. While we had been very hungry, we ate a little but cut the evening short and left many partially tasted dishes of food that remained at Sorci’s as we declined any need to take any of it home.

I am an easy going 72 year-old and planned on leaving my customary 20 - 25% tip. But with a nearly $250 bill for a ruined family dining experience at Sorci’s, I left what given the bad experience was a generous 7% tip. We won’t be returning!

Now that we are back home, I write this to give Sorci’s in Sumner feedback in writing on their badly needed areas for food and service...

I think if you can withstand the shortcomings, and come back often enough to become a regular, then everything is fine. ....... My wife and I went on a Wednesday night, and there was no wait. The restaurant was busy, however the person who was apparently supposed to be our server had plenty of time to BS with other guys at the bar. Extensively, like not just 30 seconds... fully standing around looking bored. ........We sat and waited for anyone other than the host to notice us or address us with a greeting. More people came in and were given hugs and greetings... I'm not even kidding... literal hugs. ..... So I finally flagged down the 18-year-old host after 20 mins and asked him if anyone was going to help us. He was shocked that our server hadn't helped us yet. He went away, talked to the server guy, and rather than our server coming back and helping and apologizing for the wait, the host, who is not a server, took our drinks and food order. Not once did any server come over to help the entire meal. ..... Believe the other reviews too - if you catch them on the wrong night, you will get the worst service possible from a restaurant........ The food? It was ok. My wife and I split the chicken parmesan, as we aren't big eaters. The portions are small, as others have noted. The flavor was pretty good, but the chicken was quite tough and not tender at all...... Definitely try the other Italian restaurants around first. There is zero...

This used to be my favorite Italian place to eat at, unfortunately the last few times I've been here the service has been appalling.

Me and my mom came here at 11:30 A.M today for lunch, when we went in we had no greeting at all, after waiting a few moments the waitress finally noticed us and just told us to sit anywhere (still no greeting of any kind) over five minutes went by before the waitress came over and she asked us if we were ready to order, which we were not considering that we weren't given menus, she took our drink orders and brought us our menus.

Employees were not very attentive and lacking basic customer service skills, whenever they saw we needed a refill on our drinks they would just set it on the table as they were walking by and would take the empty glass the next time they walked by never checking in with us or asking if we needed anything.

When we were finished eating a waiter came by to take our dishes, I actually wanted dessert so we quickly asked to get dessert to go, a few moments later he just put our dessert box on the table as he was walking by, and we also had our check just plopped on to our table as the waiter was walking by.

Bad service from start to finish, no greeting, no "thanks for coming in", no "have a good day"

Definitely not a place I'd want to go sit down to eat at anymore, IF I do return, anything I order from there will be placed as a...
