I've always seen this place when I would drive to Stanford and well I always thought maybe someday I'll go in well I finally went. Unfortunately I went on the hottest day in the whole entire world well it felt like that. It didn't really that they have absolutely no air conditioning and could not open up any of their windows. The food was soso but, it was a little suspect that it was so hot and they have a little set up for putting all the fixin's for your hamburgers yet,the Mayo was out there. It seemed to be a bit pricey for three little ribs, a tiny salad with 1 slice of tomato and bread paired with a very small handful of french fries. For more then 20 dollars. Maybe this place is better for the hamburgers looking around almost everyone had one unfortunately, I ordered ribs. Also, it had a weird taste, as if it was some industrialized stuff, which is weird since the place is small and has a home-made feel to it. I said "No fries" as I was not very hungry. Yet, they put fries on the plate and almost charged me for that. When I reiterated the "No fries" part, they just dumped it and gave me the plate back, with the disappointing burger....
Read moreIf you miss a legit Mesquite charcoal grilled burger, this is the place for you! So many places out there with flat top or gas grilled burgers with that bland taste I just got used to. I had forgotten that smoke-infused deliciousness that only comes from real charcoal.
With the cities cracking down and wanting electric everything, Kal’s is a breathtaking culinary trip to simpler times that you won’t find in newer places.
I got the cheeseburger, medium and fries. All cooked to order. A separate station lets you pick and add the condiments of your choice.
It was delicious old-school goodness. Having passed the taste test with flying colors, I’m going to return to try the rib-eye.
Highly...
