Disappointing experience. Large portion but inconsistent quality.
When it first opened, I was really excited to get a Chinese food restaurant in the area. 1st experience was good, ordered the chicken chop suey with crispy noodles and something else to go. I'd been looking for a good crispy noodle place in the area for a long time and was very happy with the chicken chop suey with crispy noodles! 2nd time, we ordered just beef chop study with crispy noodles cause that's enough for 2 people. The sauce was extremely salty and beef did not taste fresh, a little disappointed. 3rd time, we went back to chicken chop sexy with chicken noodles. Called in the order and told it would be ready in 15min. When picking up, confirmed with the lady that it was chicken. Came home to find out it was not chicken, it was combo and was only 1/3 chicken. The remaining were beef and shrimp which we didn't want and did not taste fresh. In addition, the crispy noodles weren't cooked thoroughly and I felt like I was chewing on half raw pasta noodles. I was very disappointed.
I might give them another chance sometime in the car further hoping they will have improved their quality control. I did have 1 good experience out of 3, but it seems to just be going down as time pass. If I still get another bad experience then I will probably never go back again.
My favorite in the area is Gombei Bento and it's a pity that they close so early in...
Read moreReview is for the 2 item combo plate. Personally think it's a bit overpriced and could be more freshly made. $8.50 for a 2 item plate which is a choice of steamed rice, chow mein, or fried rice + two entree items (got two of these). $7.50 for a 1 item plate. Chow mein was mushy, not much flavor. Mushroom chicken was good and broccoli beef was great. Orange chicken flavor was good but was cooked too long ago. Kung Pao chicken was fresh but not much flavor. Also ordered a large hot and sour soup $6.75 which was good - freshly made and good balance of hot and sour flavors. I liked the fried onion add on. Had I noticed before ordering the two 2 item combos, I would've tried the pork and shrimp spring rolls which looked healthier...
Read moreJoy Wok is a cute little restaurant hidden around the corner from Lucky. It is quite small, and most of the food is like a Panda Express type ordering system. The orange chicken and spicy chicken wings were tasty. It was a little hard to know what each entree was, as they weren't labeled. I'm guessing this place is mostly regulars who come in and out because of the lack of labels. Each plate was a little less than $13 and I think you are definitely getting what you pay for. To be fair, we went in closer to 8 and are not sure if we got the slim pickings for the end of day. This is a decent place if you're in a rush and wanting quick Chinese food in the area! Hard to not compare to Little Chef...
