I have been to other first watch locations but it was my first time here. I would not recommend this location. We were seated right away which was good. This location does not serve alcohol unlike the other locations. So no mimosas. The waitress we had must not have liked her job. She took our orders and wrote them down on her little pad. The food comes and she got my order totally wrong. She still tried to place the food in front of me and I said no. Then she tried to force me to take it. Saying that’s what I wrote for you so you can have that. I said no that isn’t what I ordered. She also messed up my moms pancake 3 times until my mom was just annoyed and said forget it. Mind you we were seated right next to the kitchen. She could have literally walked 5 steps away and given the correct order to the chef which she did not do. I sat in silence while my whole family ate, still waiting for my food. As my family members started finishing their food my order finally came out. Which left my family watching me eat as I was the last person to get their food which sat waiting in the kitchen mere steps away. I like first watch and I will return to other locations but the waitress needs re-training in customer service. Had it been up to my I wouldn’t have tipped her but my mother is a lot...
Read moreSawgrass Plaza, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Original review, 2023: This is one of the best restaurants in the First Watch franchise because of the consistency of good servers and quality food it has. It’s easier to park here (unless it’s a Saturday or Sunday) than at other locations. It’s also a larger restaurant with lots of windows. I love that our server spoke both English and Spanish very well, something you’ll notice about South Florida.
My husband had morning meetings here a lot and if you get here at 7:00 am you can sit in the coveted booths on the right wall. They bring you a whole pot of coffee and a great selection of creamers. Today they even had pumpkin spice creamer.
First Watch is known for its huge pancakes, omelettes, unique juice beverages, and sandwiches.
Today we had the French toast, fresh fruit bowl (no cheap apples or canned pineapple there), and grits.
Everything was good. The grits were yellow, salted and peppery. I asked for no butter and they came as ordered. The fruit bowls here are always artfully arranged (see photo).
Update: July, 2025. We visit this area about once every other month and this is still our favorite First Watch. I tried the ham and Gruyère omelette and it was outstanding. I love the fresh...
Read moreMy sister kept telling me about this place and I kepy ignoring her until one day we had a couple things to do around the area and decided to stop there. Though the line was quite long, we had a five below next to it so we could distract ourselves in the meantime. Once we were seated, the service was really fast! One girl kept coming over bringing us the menu, asking us if we were ready, took our orders and in no time we had our food. Needless to say: food is amazing. I had pancakes with lemon sauce. Please note, my hand is conveying the pancake because I wanted to show how BIG it was! Size and flavor are one big thing at this restaurant. I also ordered the iced coffee not thinking much of it but I had to had it before I left Miami so I ordered my last day there, it was seriously delicious (I also ordered the lemon pancakes of course). The place itself is not that pretty but I guess that's good so people don't stop to take too many pictures and the line can move fast. I honestly recommend this place, and this is coming from someone who didn't want to try it out so I'm saying I was 100% wrong and you should give yourself the chance to prove you wrong as well. Ready to go back once I step...
