I LOve caspers and have been coming here for a long time and referring everyone I know here. I found them after discovering their low sugar home brew style kombucha at some of the local stores that is other level good, truly unique and incomparable to any other one on the market. You just can’t find anything else like that commercially. And then when I visited their store site something intuitively told me to Try their sourdough after not being able to eat bread for the past twenty years. True story. I kid you not, I was able to eat it without any ill effects and their foccacia is one of the best things I ever had. I can’t even describe the magic of being able to eat bread sometimes again. I think it’s because she is truly making it from old world practices. I also love that this is a sort of modern and yet traditional twist on a farmers market ma and pa place literally and figuratively marrying her Jewish sourdough offerings with his Korean fermented krauts and kombucha. I think he told me his mother brought a heirloom kombucha culture in a suitcase from San Francisco. You can’t make that up. This place is busy because they are good, they are puting goodness into the world and they deserve it. Because of that you will have to wait at peak times on the weekend like any other place. If you want to miss the rush go at 1pm on the weekend or during the week when they’re open wed-fri. When a place is that busy, new and a home grown start up, give them a break for things not always being perfect. The staff know me by name, know my dog by name and even sometimes Save her bread crusts. As for some of the critiques about the wait, I think it would be great if after growing their business they can eventually branch out to have a store where you can just pop in to buy kombucha, bread and kraut bc I get wanting to pop in for those things and not wait in a diner line. I’ve found the best time to do that is during the week and after 1 on weekends. This is my favorite place in Austin so it’s worth the...
Read moreI approached this bagel spot with skepticism; after all, it wasn't your typical puffy bagel but rather a sourdough-based one. However, upon recommendation from my East Coast friends, who insisted this was one of the top three bagel spots I absolutely had to try after numerous disappointments, I decided to give it a shot. And boy, was I glad I did!
The Bagels: Absolutely delicious and NY approved. The sourdough base imparts a unique, tangy flavor that elevates the bagel experience to new heights.
The Ambiance: The interior of this spot is charming, with a welcoming vibe that makes you feel like you've walked into a little slice of New York. The decor is tasteful, providing a perfect backdrop for enjoying your meal.
Service:The staff here are lovely - friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. Their service adds to the overall positive experience.
The Lox Spread: Simply divine. Well-packed, fresh, and perfectly made, it complements the sourdough bagels wonderfully, creating a harmonious blend of flavors.
After visiting four different spots that left me disheartened with their subpar "NY-style" bagels, which felt more like they were sourced from a 24-hour deli or worse, Costco, this place was a revelation. It's clear that here, they understand what makes a bagel genuinely New York - it's not just about the claim but the quality and authenticity.
This bagel spot is an excellent find in the South, offering a slice of New York that's both surprising and satisfying but just a...
Read moreJust finished eating here on a Sunday afternoon.
I had a bagel craving and went to this place because it’s rated one of the top bagel places in Austin.
We ordered: 1x Jalapeño Bagel w/ Jalapeño cream cheese 1x pizza bagel 1x cinnamon roll
Price $20
Jalapeño bagel - we actually received a normal bagel not a jalapeño one. The bagels were so flattened they had the volume equivalent of half a bagel, and were super hard, almost dense stale tasting. The jalapeño cream cheese was sweet.
Pizza bagel - also extremely flat. When you go to a bagel shop, you look forward to fat, fresh bagels. These are the volume of half a bagel you get in a grocery store. Very salty. Looks like something a child would make in an easy bake oven.
Cinnamon roll - great value for the size, it’s the one thing that’s massive. It is extremely dry though and not warmed. They do have these prepped so when you order they hand it to you right away, but I would rather wait a few mins for a not dry and warmed cinnamon roll at this price. I ate a few bites and probably will toss the rest.
Wait time - this is what shocked us. There wasn’t a line at all when I ordered, and there was tons of staff working, but we waited over 30 mins to get our bagels delivered by curt staff. We went to get bagels for a quick in and out bite and the entire process took over an hour which I’ve never experienced at a bagel shop.
There’s a good amount of outdoor seating and some seating inside. Parking lot gets full. ...
