Nice selection but inconsistent quality and service. I've been to this location a few times and typically can get what I need. However, a few months ago I bought a Tarte mascara and when I got into my car to put some on, I saw that it had been used. Tarte's Lights Camera Lashes mascara comes in a thick tube wrapped in a faux leather case with prominent edges that line up when the tube is closed. I saw immediately that the edge on the wand did not line up with the edge on the tube, which probably meant the tube had been opened before and was not closed all the way. When I opened the tube and pulled the wand out there was an eyelash stuck on the on the brush! I went back onto the store and was offered an exchange right away. I figured the bad experience was a one-time thing, but recently I was sold a very used bottle of foundation. I went in to get a new bottle of Estee Lauder Double Wear. I asked the woman who was helping me for my usual shade and I also asked if I could take home a small sample of the next shade darker because I would be getting a spray tan for my upcoming wedding and wanted to be sure my foundation matched. She refused to make me a sample but said she could "color match" me and I could buy a bottle of the darker shade for $42. I explained that a color match wouldn't do any good since I don't have the spray tan yet and I was hoping to just get a tiny sample of the next shade darker to help blend with my usual color. She still refused saying they don't do samples-only color matching- and suggested I try a bronzer instead. I was annoyed because I've been purchasing this product for over a decade and this was the first time someone clearly did not want to help me. The next day I opened my foundation and saw that it was used. There was foundation everywhere inside the lid and all around the neck of the bottle. It's obvious that whoever returned this product had used it several times and that Ulta put it back on the floor. There's no way I was putting it on my face so I called the store and said I wanted to exchange for an unopened bottle. The woman on the phone said they sold out of my shade. She was apologetic and offered to order my shade and make me "a bunch" of samples to hold me over for my wedding and until my order came in. I appreciated this but wondered why I was refused a sample just a day earlier. I went over to Nordstrom for a new bottle of my foundation and when I mentioned that I was getting a spray tan, the Nordstrom beauty advisor offered to give me samples of several darker shades. The Nordstrom beauty advisor also informed me that makeup returns are never resold. Having received much better service elsewhere, I probably won't be making a purchase...

Worst hair and makeup experience of my life!

I sent this message to customer support and hoped to have it resolved, but management has never tried to contact me regarding a solution.

I recently visited my local Ulta store for my hair and makeup appointment for a work function I was attending that night. I had booked the appointments through the app, which said it would take 2 hours 30 mins for the partial highlights, cut and style and 40 mins for the makeup. The estimated cost was to be $200. When greeted by the stylist (Irene), she told me I would need full highlights. I instructed her that I wanted my hair to be belayage, and that I needed to be finished by 4:30pm (including makeup)I said ok to the full highlights, trusting her judgement (but she did not tell me how much extra money it would cost or time it would take). She began the service at 1pm, then proceeded to leave bleach in my hair with just the lower section of my hair done for about an hour while she finished another client. At this stage I was ready to walk out, and was extremely unhappy with the service. Next, she did not mention about needing a root touch up until she was half way through bleaching my hair, then I asked if she could touch up and she did that for me. By this time, 3 hours had gone by, she washed out the bleach and toned it, then told the makeup girl that she had to leave now, as her shift was over (4pm) and she would have to take over cutting, styling and applying my makeup. I said to cancel the makeup and just get my hair done, as it was still wet and still needed to be cut and styled. The makeup artist then cut my hair by picking up random pieces of hair and snipping them with scissors, then blow dryed my already fried hair from the overdeveloped bleach application without a heat protectant. I then realized now that my hair was dry, that I didn’t actually have belayage ends like I wanted, but very dull full highlights, up to almost my scalp. I left with flat straight and lifeless hair, no makeup and ended up having to pay $250 for a service I was not happy with and took 4 hours to do, without even getting my makeup or hair styled how I asked. When checking out, the staff were chatting with each other, rather than helping me and I asked if they could please help me checkout as I was in a hurry, one made a nasty remark, with a smug voice saying ā€œoh she’s in a hurry!ā€ I did not have time to discuss my service or cost as it was almost 5pm. I did not leave a tip for either and will never return to Ulta for a purchase...

I'm not big on writing reviews but I've been wanting to share my experience with this Ulta location salon. I go in with the same request when it comes to my hair cuts since i have long hair and would like to keep it long. I always ask for just an one inch trim at the most with some layers and to also thin out the bottom layer since i'm not a fan of blunt cuts. About a week and a half ago I was due for a hair cut so I went in asked the stylist for an inch trim at the most and some layers. Since I have longer hair I can't usually tell what is being cut since they're cutting it behind the chair most times. I will not be mentioning my stylist's name since this tends to happen often at this salon. I feel as the stylist don't really listen to what you're asking for and just do what might be better for your hair without asking. I only return back to this salon asking for different stylist every time in the hunt of finding a stylist I can stick with and I have yet to do so. My stylist this past time asked how I normally style my hair and I told her i go in with a large curler just for some loose curls. She said she would give me "beach curls" since i had somewhere else to go right after my cut. At the end of the cut I realized it was very short. I think my stylist realized how shocked I was by the length because right after she saw my reaction she said and when she cuts more than the client wants they end up liking their hair a couple of weeks after... That isn't how its supposed to be. I couldn't tell how the rest of the cut was by how the way it was styled. I didn't express the way I felt about the length since their would be no way to fix that problem but I shouldve. I didn't want to say anything until I could try to style it myself since the way she styled it isn't how usually how I style it. I would like to say the cut is not bad but is nowhere near what i asked for. I attached two photos below. One of them is a couple of days before my cut and one is the second I got in my car after. I will no longer be going to this location for a cut anymore. Almost every time I go in the stylist never listens to that i want and do as they think is "best...

I was recommended by the benefit brow girl to see Paul, he is listed as a master stylist on the website. Before I came in, my hair was all one length and a little longer than my collar bones. I originally did not plan on getting a cut, but had told him my hair was really heavy and we agreed that long layers would help that. I said I did NOT want a bang and that I usually pull down two small pieces when I wear my hair up. I left the salon with my hair completely butchered. I knew it was bad as it was happening. I was never told to uncross my legs, I was looking down as he cut. He cut first with scissors then again with a razor? I now have a massive ā€˜hole’ that isn’t even a bang, I’m not even truly sure what you’d call that. I had expressed prior how I was insecure about how short my hair was and had been wearing it up for months. I was finally getting more confident with my length then this happened. On top of it, my highlights were not blended out, brassy right in the front and this was a service I paid $242, and I regretfully tipped 20%. They refunded me cash for the cut and then offered to fix it. I went in with the manager and while things looked great as I left, for some reason the toner faded once again the highlights aren’t blended again. It’s only been a month since I’ve gone in. Overall I spent $215 to hate my hair. I’ve never had such a bad haircut or highlight and I truly don’t know what was going on. I had to pay over $800 for extensions just to not absolutely hate how I look. Just save yourself the tears and don’t bother. I wish ulta would make their stylists invest in schooling or bring people in to teach new techniques.

Save money for a real salon. The selfies are what I got! I had a beautiful balayage before I went. It was just grown out so I wanted a couple of highlights added to the top of my head. The girl put these HUGE blocks in my hair! And over processed it. My hair was breaking so much after. I understand the stylist isn’t perfect but it was the way it was handled after too!! After crying all night I called the next day hair manager lacked so much remorse. She said it could have been a ā€œMiscommunicationā€ between my hairstylist and I. This is not! I felt so gaslit by her. I asked her name and she hung up on me. I went in to fix it again and it still didn’t look good. I was not even offered any empathy or any kind of conditioning treatment to fix the damage. I just got a refund. I’ve spent a lot of money in hair repair and dyed to fix my hair. I should have just gone to a professional salon. It would have saved money and tears.
