Since my trip to Austin 4 weeks ago, I have not stopped talking about how good the tacos from here are. I was only in town for 3 days, and I ended up eating here 5 times. It was the first thing I ever ate in Austin ever and it was the last right before leaving. Coming from Colorado, I honestly expected a similar type of taco to be presented to me which was small and somewhat bland, only being flavored by the toppings. To my surprise, I got the opposite. I ended up starting with The Slowrider that I am convinced had a half pound of braised beef in it that had more flavor than any other braised beef I've ever had. The cotija and cilantro complimented it perfectly and when I was done, I instantly went to order another. In the 3 days I got more slowriders, The Old School and The Padre. All equally amazing and packed with flavor and portions. Price wise to me was also pretty great given the amount of food you actually get per taco. I get the same prices here for 1/3 of the filling. The service to me was also great as they would bring out your food to your personally and always were friendly and able to make modifications to your tacos as you seem fit. The setting was the typical food truck scene with picnic tables out in front with decent shade from trees and rain with a smaller parking lot out in front making parking a bit easier if you can get a spot. I really can't wait to eat these tacos again, and I highly recommend the same to anyone else passing through the area and looking for a quick bite.

Walked in on a Sunday and truly loved the experience. Everything was fresh and tasty. I started with an amazing guacamole, the Chiliquiles were phenomenal, and the house made jalapeno garlic salsa brought a tear to my eye. Especially on the fried papas on the side. The only negative I can say, was the Charro beans were a little bland. But everything else was a great breakfast experience. Come and continue making this renamed Austin original a place to be!

Wow! I wish I had more room to eat! Their chicken taco was absolutely delicious...the tortilla was so fresh- perfectly toasted and soft on the inside. The chicken was tender and seasoned well, all the veggies were very fresh. The pico de Gallo was amazing- very flavorful with a kick. The sauce definitely tied the taco together. Had Gourdough's first (in the same parking lot) so I was too full to try more but the other options sounded delicious!

All the people who claim that Mellizoz (formerly Izzoz, but there was some kind of trademark dispute) beats Torchy's need their heads checked, but this place is excellent nonetheless, a real standout in one of the greatest trailer parks in town. (Seriously: lobster rolls, tacos, and donuts all together like this? Amazing).

For me the stars of the show are their tortas. The pulled pork torta is great, the tilapia and tempura shrimp ones are excellent, but the beef torta is godlike, and I'm currently in that horrible place with a restaurant where I want to branch out and try other things but I just can't stay away from it. That cilantro lime aioli is magical. For $6.50 it comes with pretty kickass garlic fries too.

I confess that the tortas are so good I haven't tried all of their headliner tacos (probably the ones that everyone's fussing over), but I have enjoyed the carne guisada and roasted chicken ones and would recommend them. I liked their breakfast tacos, like the B.A.T., which is a big mess of eggs and bacon and potatoes and beans and cheese and almost a meal unto itself, and will sometimes get a standard bacon/egg/cheese taco alongside a torta for $2 if I'm feeling particularly starving. Not mindblowing, but definitely tasty.

They have a minimum credit charge of $8, which I think used to be $10, but I typically either come here with coworkers or order a drink or something, so it's never been an issue for me.

Get a beef torta and a breakfast taco - you...

I've been an patron of Mellizoz Tacos for some time. They haven't been my go-to for tacos but what they offer is just fine and, if I'm in the area and the line is not too long, I might hit it up. That said, if not for my most recent experience, I'd say it qualified for a rating of "It's okay" (three stars). However, the most recent time I went, I was taking advantage of a PayPal offer during SXSW. The offer, which was $5 to use just about any way I'd like, could get me more than one taco (but not quite two). As such, I only ordered one. The cashier assumed I was using the $5 PayPal credit and rang up my order as $5 then asked if that was okay. No. It's not okay. My first problem with this is that I did not order $5 of their product. My order was $3.50. I was essentially being asked if it was okay Mellizoz overcharge me. (Not okay with me.) Second, it seemed as though the guy at the food truck window simply assumed that I wouldn't be back, as though I'm not from around ATX. (Indeed, I live in ATX though now I'm unsure that I'll return). Finally (though I can't blame 'em), it came across as though they were trying to grab all the free money they could. It just struck me as dishonest. Good tacos. Okay location. Passable service....
