P.J. Whelihan's Pub + Restaurant - Harrisburg — Restaurant in Susquehanna Township

Been wanting to try for a long time. I also wanted to see what it looked like since they bought it and converted it over from an old TGI Friday's. The place looks great with its new and improved (open) industrial look. It was clean but did need some bussing as quite a few tables and the bar still had 6 different guests leftover dishes (not a deal-breaker at all for us). That was just an honest observation. Otherwise very clean, including the modern looking restrooms.

Our server was training a new server and was excellent at not only training but explaining drink specials and recommendations for upselling. She was very focused on making sure she was in the moment and totally focused on us rather than just a ticket taker. Since we (my son and I) had never been here I asked for recommendations between the burger, a Reuben, or their club. I loved her honesty and of course took her recommendation with the burger (sorry I forget which I had now - uhg). The burger was a little underdone for well done, but again, no complaints on this end it wasn't like it was rare. It was very good and I'd get it again.

Our trainer server followed up with food delivery and refills on water before ever having to ask. Both servers were super attentive and I would venture a guess that they had about 5 or 6 tables of bigger parties. Again, they did a super job and deserved their over 20% tips between us.

I highly recommend this place and miss living closer to the area. When it was TGI's we were there perhaps once a week. So, my only complaint is self induced --- I wish we could patronize them more...

Went there with my fiancé tonight. We ordered drinks, both of which did not taste very well. Hers was too sweet but tolerable. Mine was so sour I had to ask them to add sprite to it just to get it down. Next, we ordered our food and my fiancé ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap because she wanted the crispy chicken. It states on the menu “choice of sauce” and she explicitly stated she “did not want Buffalo sauce” and wanted the honey hot instead. She also wanted extra goat cheese instead of the cheddar Jack. The order comes out and she takes a bite and it’s Buffalo sauce. There was barely any goat cheese in it, though we were charged for it. It took so long for the waitress to come back and check in how our food was that by then, we just wanted to leave. So though they offered to remake it, it had already been so long it was not worth it. Needless to say, the meal was not eaten. The fries also were so beyond stale. We upgraded to the fries and somehow that means we don’t get the pickle advertised on the menu. So as an apology they brought out two pickles as if that fixed that fact my fiancé didn’t get to eat. And it took another 10 minutes after bringing it to her attention regarding the mistake on the food to even bring the pickle that was magically supposed to rectify the situation. Union Deposit Hbg Pa / location. Food: was great and priced at a good value! One change ( stop pre-mixing salad & salad dressing) I was not informed my salad would come out with the dressing on it, Dressing should come on side OR the customer needs to be informed / given options.

Service: Outstanding, pleasant, professional & prompt!

Atmosphere: Needs improvement!I love all the TVs, with different options of things to watch which are sports related. The PROBLEM was The background music was too loud! I asked the manager for the music to be turned down so that we ( me & those I was with during this visit for dinner could have normal conversation level) so we could enjoy our time together. The manager took a position of the ( current volume) is a company standard! I shared the difficulty of having a conversation with those I was with. The Manager (she) said I will see if I can turn the music down however, realize Sir this is a sports bar environment, this place is generally loud! I responded by saying (Miss) I realize this is the environment of a sports bar however, this place has MUSIC playing & the Volume Of A Nights Club!
