Coming into this place it was pretty impressive. I love the ambiance of the place. The live music was also excellent. The servers were very friendly and attentive which I liked. The one big let down of this place was the food itself. We ordered the baba ganoush for our appetizer and it wasn't good, it's like they creamed it too much and I can't even barely taste the eggplant. At least the pita bread that came with it was actually good. For the main course I had the lamb chops and my wife had the falafel plate and for the prices that we paid, it was quite disappointing as we were expecting it to blow us away. The lamb chops were under seasoned and the rice that came with it was disappointingly overcooked and some of it were burnt hard clumps the presentation looked great but overall disappointing. The falafel plate had good presentation but the falafel itself was very dry and overcooked. I think I have to do with the shape they formed it on it was shaped like mini donuts and probably what contributed to it being overcooked. For those that reviewed this place and thought it was good, you haven't had good Mediterranean food. Jerusalem Cafe and Kebabji is way way better and not as expensive. For dessert we got the Knafeh and this was disappointing as well it looked nothing like the pictures online and the flavors were ok. This restaurant has everything right except for the food. If they can work on making the food better versus the aesthetics then you have a winning restaurant. For over $100+ meal for 2, I was expecting better but I guess you can't...
Read moreI wanted to love it. I really did. First, this place is definitely an upgrade compared to the previous cafe. The waiter was very nice. I think they're going for fine dining, hence the prices, but there are a few disconnects for me. In fine dining, the wait staff is timely and attentive. My waiter made three trips to my table after taking away an appetizer and never wiped away the crumbs from the table. I had to ask him to remove the debris from my table. What bothered me most is that I saw him spending a lot of time with hostesses and not a lot of time checking on me. For instance, my calamari was very salty, and I needed lemon to balance it out, but I couldn't get his attention. By the time he came back, I wasn't interested in eating it. Also, the beef kabob was too salty, and the mujadara was really dry. I know they haven't been open long and are probably still defining things but we don't get discounts off the food if it does not meet middle eastern standards, so it fair to have high standard for this price point. The other thing I'll point out is portion size. I was charged $25 for a plate with one small kabob. I believe it is overpriced. I will pay whatever you charge, but please make it worth me getting dressed, driving, and paying fine dining prices. It's a nice place. I hope they work a little harder to get this right. I wish them nothing but the best because I love food from this region. Perhaps, I'll try again in...
Read moreMy family and I attended the soft opening and it was one of the most delicious dining experiences we've had in Atlanta in a long time. We got the hummus, labneh, baba ganoush, pita, fattoush, falafel, fried cauliflower, za'atar/cheese flatbread, beef kebab, and knafeh for dessert. All were fantastic but to me the hummus, pita, and knafeh stood out as world class. The hummus was so flavorful and creamy, complemented by the buttery smooth taste of high quality olive oil and chickpeas that melted in your mouth. The pita was so fluffy and delicious it made you feel ashamed to have even eaten store bought pita before. The knafeh was a unique dessert we had never tried before and it was an incredible pairing of flavors, the savory cheese blending with the sweet sugar sauce and balanced by the ice cream on top. I have to also give points to the falafel, which rivaled some of the best I've had in Israel, and the Berry Simple mocktail, which was perfectly refreshing. I did have some nitpicks with some fries that were slightly underseasoned and the lights were a little brighter than they should have been but those are all things that get ironed out after a restaurant has been open for more than a day. Overall it was an incredible meal and I'm so excited to come back and show off this gem to all my friends and family who have yet to...
