Perhaps I shouldn't expect too much (this is fast casual sushi) but a few unexpected elements put me off returning.
The positives first:
It IS fast, so there's a selling point. I've been to dicey sushi joints and noticed a smell I do not like to associate with sushi - no such smell here. Most things seem clean, as does the air. There is a good choice of proteins, vegetables and other ingredients. The price is reasonable - comparable with other fast casual offerings.
The negatives:
The tuna is suspiciously bright pink, and the reason presented itself during preparation when a julienne strip slipped off its rice bed and left a pink stain (only a minute or so after being placed there). So, food coloring.
The preparation was reasonably good, but the employees appeared passive about their work, which speaks to one of the chief problems with Fusian. Good sushi restaurants hire attentive chefs - care and precision is central - but those at Fusian were anything but. Subway comes to mind.
Then, I noticed the Maki cutting device. Full of debris - rice, fish and cream cheese intermingling, presumably for hours. A confidence killer.
As I sat down, it was hard to find a clean counter space. Apparently, at Fusian, customers leave and their mess lingers.
Finally, very little flavor. Of the asparagus, cucumber, tuna and tempura shrimp which comprised my roll, I expected at least one of to come forth, but the bland roll was easily dominated by a slight lacing of sweet soy sauce. That pink tuna came to mind. Perhaps I should have been relieved that the suppliers of this fish chose not to partner food coloring with artificial flavor, but dissapointment won over.
In all, a novel and convenient experience spoiled by flavorless food and the absence of that crucial sushi...
Read moreI'll start by saying the food was really good, no issues there. Ordering online was easy, food was ready on time, people were pleasant when I showed up to get my sushi and tuna poke bowl. Got two bags of food and everything was listed on the receipt. When I got home we noticed we were missing my wife's seaweed salad. No big deal, it's a 15 min drive to the restaurant so figured I'd call and ask them to credit it back to my card. So I called the number on the website, the phone just rings, no one picks up and no answering service. Thought they were just busy and we're unable to answer so tried multiple times throughout the night and even this morning at opening. Still no pick up. Sent an email last night but got no response. Again it's less than $4 for the salad but I didn't get it and shouldn't have to pay for it. My intake for not completely checking when I picked it up but if you have a phone number listed and are capable of emailing then have someone answer the phone or check the emails. Again, food is definitely worth the price, what we got was delicious but have not had luck getting a refund for a missing item because no one answers the phone...
Read moreTwo stars (instead of one) because I ate here last summer and loved it. I’m back in town now, and I was excited about it again so I ordered some food for pick up. The website said nothing about holiday hours (July 4), and I was able to place the order online AND PAY for the food. I got there at 11:45 to pick it up, and there was no one there... doors were locked. I’m so disappointed and mad that they have my money. I’ll find out tomorrow how they will handle this. UPDATE: They’ve made up for it and I’m confident I won’t encounter a similar problem again. I’m really happy that I can go back without feeling bad about it. The food is great and a...
