I can say I was pleasantly surprised with my visit to this location today. My past experiences with Bob Evans had left me with low expectations. The benefit of low expectations is that I'm easily impressed with any type of good service.
We were third in queue for a table when we arrived, all three parties were seated immediately. The only wait time was for the hostess to make her way to the host stand. A+
Though we did have to wait a few extra moments to be greeted by our server, the wait proved to be worth it. Lyesa (Hopefully spelling that correctly) was so friendly and accomodating. She was patient with my complicated order and even took time to make light conversation with us between guests. She was intuitive of our needs for anything from napkins to refills - before we even had to ask!
The food was so-so. My pancakes were on the dry side and there was no butter served with them. But to my main focus for the extra stars.. my eggs. I order over medium eggs everywhere for breakfast. You can tell when there is an "egg cook" in the back and not just a line cook.
Whoever made my eggs Friday morning needs a raise. They were perfect over medium eggs. I can't find that anywhere from Wild Eggs to Cracker Barrel. I don't give that accolade to the company, I give that directly to the cook on the line that day, who clearly takes pride in their work.
Place was moderately clean. A few spaces could have been spot swept, but the overall atmosphere was clean and kempt.
Excited to say I look forward to visiting this...
Read moreTotal disaster at Bob Evans Kenwood tonight (Thanksgiving). I placed an order for two dinners at about 1:30 pm, with a curbside pick up at 5:00 pm. I arrived at 5:00 pm and called the restaurant and gave my name. Whomever answered said they were running 15-20 minutes behind. I waited in my car for 20 minutes, and when no one came out with food or called I went into the restaurant. There were about 30 other people standing inside waiting for their meals. I asked someone (assistant manager?) about my meal, she took my name and started looking through a bunch of receipts randomly strewn about the counters. Other people were having the same problem. Around this time the Bob Evans employees stopped answering the phones (I heard one employee say something to the effect of "let them get their food somewhere else"). More people kept coming into the restaurant as the Bob Evans folks were not taking out curbside nor responding to phone calls. About 15 minutes later I spoke to the assistant manager again and she said she could not even find a record of my order. I showed her the email confirmation on my phone and she asked if I was at the right Bob Evans (yes...). I asked her to refund my money (I paid when I ordered) and she said she couldn't do that, I would have to "cancel" my order when I got home, which as far as I can tell I can't do. So that means tedious phone calls tomorrow trying to sort this out. Whoever manages this location needs to find a new job that does not require...
Read moreWe are so pleased to find a restaurant that is so welcoming to my special-needs son! We have been coming here once a week for the last year, and they have always provided a separate room for us to eat in so that I don't have to worry about seating him near other customers. I know that most restaurants find it difficult to accomodate us, but the patient and wonderful people who work at this Bob Evans go out of their way to make us feel welcome and appreciated. When we walk in the door, Jim greets us with a big smile and asks how we're all doing. Our server, Nate, is phenomenal, and he has taken the time to appreciate us, especially my son. Although we know that most restaurants cannot begin to provide this small-town attention to us, we are extremely grateful that we found a special place where my son is cheerfully welcomed and cared for. What a difference these people have made in my son's life!
We just came in last week, and we were thrilled to see our favorite waiter Nate was back in Cincinnati and Bob Evans again. He has always treated my special-needs son as a VIP customer, and he's truly a caring and compassionate person. Our other server, Red, was a complete pleasure, and she shared her own personal experience with autism when she saw my son at our table. We felt so appreciated and welcomed in this restaurant. (It's the only restaurant where I really feel comfortable...
