I recently had the pleasure of visiting Devil's Reef, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. As soon as I stepped through the doors, I found myself aboard a dark sailing ship, with hidden booths snugly wedged into the hold below decks. The atmosphere was lively and energetic, with patrons chatting and laughing over fruity cocktails and savory snacks.
But the real highlight of my visit was the drink selection. Devil's Reef boasts an impressive array of rum-based concoctions, each more delicious than the last. I especially enjoyed the "Dagon's Tooth," a potent mix of rum, lemon, vanilla, pineapple, cherry, and a secret blend of spices that left me feeling like I was on the shores of an ancient, forbidden island. As the drink's eldritch energy started to metabolize in my bloodstream, I found myself hearing songs from Carcosa and the King in Yellow.
But that was only the beginning. As the night went on, dark whisperings from an ancient and malevolent entity beyond the scope of human understanding drove me to the brink of madness, filling my head with unspeakable horrors and forbidden knowledge. Ywaq puul skshgn: on'ma yeh'glu zuq.
Despite this, I found myself unable to resist the allure of the Devil's Reef's tantalizing drinks and exotic atmosphere. And so, I returned to bar again and again, each time coming closer to succumbing to the otherworldly forces that lurked within.
But Devil's Reef isn't just about the drinks. The staff were all incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure that every customer had a memorable experience.
All in all, I highly recommend Devil's Reef to anyone looking for a fun, tropical escape from the mundane world. Whether you're a fan of Lovecraft or just looking for a good time, Devil's Reef is sure to delight. Just be prepared for the dark forces that may...
Read moreAs something of a tiki bar aficionado I had been looking forward to visiting Devil's Reef for some time. Now having visited it I must say that it did not disappoint. A lot of care, effort and expense has obviously been invested into creating an interesting and entertaining atmosphere. It's what one would expect if Disneyland had a badass tiki lounge in their Pirates of the Caribbean ride complex. I can't speak as to the quality of the food because I didn't eat during my visit, but I can say unequivocally and without reservation that the three drinks I had were some of the most delicious drinks I have ever had in my life, period, tiki-style or otherwise. They included the "Death May Die," "Voodoo Summoning" and "Pile 'O' Bones. I was also quite impressed with the taste I took of my companion's "Devil Reef" and "Officer's Mai Tai," the later of which was a delightfully unique and tasty twist on the classic tiki staple. The only cocktail I tasted that left me underwhelmed was my companion's "Zombie Punch," which seemed a bit over-boozed and under-flavored to my palate; although my friend had no complaints, and in fact seriously considered ordering it twice. He ultimately decided to try something different with the "Devil Reef" which we both loved. My other companion can't handle the high sugar content found in tiki drinks so she ordered a vodka tonic, which she found to be the best tasting version of that drink she has ever had in her life, due to the special tonic they use; nice touch. The quality of their cocktails compels me to say that this bar is worth a special trip to visit. Personally I can't wait to travel up again from Portland to savor a few...
Read moreIt was hard to find at first because the outside sign was not noticable. Our map showed right where it was and eventually discovered it was the entrance to the Preas Room in Opera Alley. There is one door for both places. Press Room to the right and the Reef to the left. My 4 friends and I went here on a Saturday night and got seated almost immediately. It was so beautiful inside and we got our own roomy private booth. The booth had three wall and the open side had curtains. From what I could tell the very large drink menu consisted of several different types of rum drinks. They all had skulls beside them to indicate the potency of the drink. Three skulls meant more potent etc. The rum was made from sea water so all.of the drinks had a bit of a salty flavor. After you are seated you scan the QR code then go up to the bar to place your order. They keep your card until you are ready to pay. Our bartender was awesome and remember each of us and what we ordered. The drinks came with a pretty lily and reusable metal straws. Since our booth was so private the noise was not noticable and we were able to have a conversation without being interrupted or having to talk loudly. The hallway to the bathrooms had some fun things to look at and there was a lounge area just outside of them. All of the table areas were unique. I would definitely go there again and all of my...
