Indo's menu is pan-Asian with heavy leanings towards Thai. The decor is modern, casual, and fairly roomy - a party of 8 would have no trouble here (though you might have to wait). Hopefully this is the trend of establishments to come in the Stadium District.
You can do tapas-style bites or have a larger plate or big bowl of soup if you're more hungry. Indo says its mission to provide "delicious, affordable food" but I wouldn't call the bites cheap. Tapas items range between $7 to 12 dollars a plate and are quite small. For instance, 4-5 Kale Edamame dumplings are about $8, so are Spring Rolls. The petite Shrimp & Chive dumplings are $9...it's going to cost a little bit if you want to get filled up.
For "larger" dishes, the Miso-Glazed Salmon is tasty and reliable but barely a government portion size (think: smaller than the palm of your hand) and rings in at $18. Noodle bowls average about $14 (my favourite is the Khao Soi Chicken with coconut curry, Thai chicken and pickles).
This is a tad on the high side, but I'm willing to pay IF, if...if, the quality is there. We don't have many places like Indo in Tacoma. The biggest problem lately is that it's inconsistent. Sometimes dumplings are folded differently, the filling ratios different from my last visit...not necessarily to benefit. The above mentioned Khao Soi can be quite different from one trip to the next. One time it will have lots of noodles, next time not so much. It might be spicy one visit and tepid the next, etc...
Another problem: service is up & down. You cannot assume attentive wait staff.
So Indo's mission is to be delicious & affordable...a place you return to "week after week". To fulfill that mission, I expect the dishes I eat to be the same week in, week out...at least for the season. It needs to be that reliable bite you get when you get a craving...but it's not quite there. A good place to go - hopefully these glitches...
Read moreDon't get me wrong, when I eat food from Indo Asian, it's delicious. Their dumplings are lovely, sauces good. It's the matter of getting their food. The last two times we've had cravings, we have tried ordering through UberEats while out at a brewery. Both times have been unsuccessful, and tonight was annoyingly so.
We ordered online as soon as we sat down at the brewery because we were starting to get hungry. 15-20 minutes after we placed the order, it still wasn't being processed, and then it was suddenly marked unfulfilled and money refunded without any kind of explanation provided. My husband called to find out what happened, and an employee said they aren't planning to do UE after 6, but someone must've forgot to turn it off (mind you, it was after 7 at this point). I could totally understand making a mistake...if we hadn't experienced a similar technology mishap the last time. AND, after 20 more minutes of searching UE for something else to order, Indo Asian still hasn't turned their UE off, so more unsuspecting fools like us would likely still be waiting for disappointment.
Honor your mistakes as a business, please, and follow through. We had already been waiting for too long to be suddenly without any sort of order, not to mention who knows how many other people simply dropped as well. It's truly disappointing that despite how much I enjoy your food, I don't enjoy the lack of professionalism I've experienced. I hope my story is rare and unlucky, but if my next experience is anything like my last two, I guarantee I won't be...
Read moreOmg this place is the best. They offer a wide variety, the flavors are on point and watching the kitchen work in silence seamlessly was entertaining. The mango sticky rice ice cream was delicious, we had the chicken satay which was flavored perfectly, even the garnish was delicious. 5/5 would recommend.
Update: * 1/16/24- had the chicken cashew lettuce wraps, miso braised salmon and chicken katsu curry-all delicious
Update **3/10/24- walked in and no one greeted us, they kept walking by and making no eye contact. Usually someone should say "be with you in a minute" or something, but NO ONE acknowledged us for like 3 or 4 minutes, 2 servers & a bartender all had the chance- it was a bad omen. had the lettuce wraps again(delish) Teriyaki chicken (chicken was over cooked n a bit dry) BBQ korean kimchi bowl- the only thing that tasted korean in this dish was the kimchi, the beef was reminiscent of Panda's beef but SLATHERED in a very sweet sauce. It was waaaay too sweet. The only thing to cut the sweetness was kimchi and it wasn't enough. The "pickled cucumbers" were just regular cucumbers so they didn't have enough tang to cut sweetness. My suggestion would be to get rid of that sweet sauce (I could hardly eat my meal) and replace it with a bulgogi style beef that also isn't too sweet. This trip was a bit disappointing but we...
