My friend & I went on a Monday and had a very unpleasant experience with the staff and customers there. First, there was what appeared to be a cat they feed sitting on a ledge near the door. It looked mean and dirty. The bar inside was so cold, dusty & smellier than other dump dives. Then the bartender asked for ID and didn't want to accept my federal ID. She was rude and spoke over me, saying in 26 years working as a bartender she had never seen anything like that. She had an erratic aspect... Her speech, facial expressions, and body language did not seem normal. She seemed to be highly under the influence of something on top of being drunk (I work in substance abuse so I know what drug use looks like). Anyway I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she had a long day! I was being quiet and respectful. I dug around and was able to find a state ID (I didn't know I had on with me). I handed it to her and she slowly examined it. Meanwhile I explained I'm pretty sure she can take my us government ID because it is superior to state IDs. She continued to be rude and demanded I stop "arguing". Then the only two customers there started walking towards me & my friend and speaking loudly to us. The man, who also seemed extremely intoxicated (he just seemed very drunk), said they have a list of IDs they can take. The other customer, slurring , said (kind of speaking over him) that she's also a bartender and knows this is true. I don't think they were paying close enough attention because as by then the first bartender was already inspecting my state ID. I understood what they were saying and didn't bother continue speaking to them anymore. I kept my voice and body language calm. These two customers started walking closer to me & my friend for no reason. Nobody told them anything. It felt threatening and the bouncer just walked off. They continued being belligerent, and I said to the man "I just gave her my other ID. Didn't you see me?" The guy looked at me blankly whiile the other woman kept rambling. the bartender fed off this energy and also started being belligerent. We decided to leave, and let them know that. The man said good bye to us & said "see ya around." We told him he definitely wouldn't see us at the bar. He just kept saying "see you around." I don't think any of them were quite coherent. What a mess! Don't know how they're still in business....

Read moreI've come to this bar for more than a year, because of its convenient location (with in walking distance of my house) and the amazing service from Adam and Trevor, who no longer works there. However the woman they had working there on 7/8 was the absolute rudest person I've ever met. My friends and my fiance and I all walked in to a near empty bar and the woman immediately screams at us for all our ID's. She doesn't greet us, and has an attitude like we're clearly not welcome. Which I find surprising considering that theres but maybe 3 people total in the bar. She starts checking them and notices that I have a vertical VALID above 21 licenses. Which mind you in our state I've been told numerous times by the DMV that they will not print a horizontal one for me unless my current ID is expired. She immediately tells me that she can't allow service, which is a sorry excuse for someone who clearly doesnt want to do their job,(considering that she didn't even check my ID, she just took one look at it and noticed it was vertical) this it's the first time I've ever been told this by any bartender since I turned 21, which is also illegal considering my drivers license is a valid form of ID and I will be taking my issue up to the liquor and cannabis board of Washington with this bar. I love coming to the Tipsy Tomato and it's been a great past time for me and alot of my friends. However I will not be coming back here until this sorry excuse for a bartender either finds a new attitude or...
