I don't leave bad reviews, because it's usually not that bad. But.... This food really is ..that bad :( My boyfriend tried once and said "it wasn't horrible but wasn't good" which concerned me. But .. lol we did. Anyways. ..Why BC we wanted Chinese. The other Chinese buffet place I really like in town is closed on Saturdays for some reason. Another sit down dining Chinese restaurant down the street I thought may be too spendy. But in hindsight probably cost equivalent and had excellent reviews. But no... lol . We decided to go to New China super Buffet with low expectations. It surprised us even then .... I am not exaggerating when I am we COULD NOT think of a single restaurant where the food was more disgusting.
My boyfriend left with me saying "sorry hunny that time was actually horrible. It wasn't as bad last time but this time was worse than most dumpster food I've eaten." Literally... bc he use to be homeless on the streets of Portland Oregon, Southern California and Even Tiajuana Mexico. Where he had to eat food out of dumpsters behind restaurants to survive.
Why am I saying all of this ?? ... I'm Trying to drive home how not picky we are and how terrible this food actually is. We just wanted something edible this evening and it wasn't. We left hungry because it was better than eating what they had.
The interior shows neglect. We were more concerned however, when we started noticing most the dishes were visibly very dirty and almost evrything we tried was downright disgustig. I noticed the signs everywhre to not waste food. Understanding that it was a regular thing, customers not finishing what they tried. Not a good sign and not good for the business or profit
We didn't feel great this last Saturday night, after what LITTLE we ate. We didn't feel super awesome all day Sunday. But We are MOST grateful that we didn't get full blown food poisoning.
The only thing we thought was ok was the service, but they did seem depressed. In fact all of the employees there had that same sad look on their their face. Probably lack of pride in where they work and lack of adequate pay. ...Giving up.... Our guess was something happened after covid where they financially got hit, because there are several good reviews bf then. Either way now, there is a obvious lack of oversight by the owner and poor leadership by management. The manager is either super inexperienced or super underpaid or both.
I wonder if there is someone here who improves operations when they are here, because there are some more recent good reviews and mentions of different times being better.
The owner should really consider being there everyday for quality control on the line. Ensuring they are not constantly wasting profits and scaring the customers away. Consider firing the crappy cook and management, pay worthwhile employees better, Direct supervision by the owner who cares can afford to hire a decent cook and competent manager Eventually they will not have to babysit the entire operation all of the time. When it is properly careed for. Otherwise this place is a sinking ship and the owner should sell it before they...
Read moreChinese buffets usually have an assortment to fit everyone’s pallet. But what if that assortment exists, but all tastes bland and stale? Well that was this place. At 7pm for dinner.
Butter shrimp? Bland. Stuffed mushrooms? Slightly sweet… why? Salmon? Boiled and sitting in a pond of water at the hot bar deep enough to swim in. Yuck. Gyoza? So stale I couldn’t chew it which is sad because it looks like it’s made here from scratch. Dim sum? Rock hard and stuck to tray. Fried shrimp? It was OK. Sushi? Equivalent to gas station sushi on the bad end of the scale. Oyster Mushrooms? OK. Garlic could have helped. Yakitori? Juicy, but bland. Beef and broccoli? Tasted like there was no sauce, just literally beef and broccoli. Cheese Wontons? Too sweet. General Tso’s Chicken? Definitely not that, not the worst I’ve had, but definitely not General Tso’s. Crab meat? Too dry and chewy. It’s supposed to have more moisture when it’s cooked in that mayo and cheese sauce, instead it comes out dry and rubbery.
All that for a little over $52+tip to feed 2 adults a 13yr old and an 8yr old.
I don’t like giving bad scores. But I have to face facts, food was NOT good, atmosphere and bathroom sucks.
Service was good/average.
Atmosphere?? What is that? It must be the peg board on the wall with hangers holding up random merchandise for sale that makes no sense like fluffy backpacks and an orbees gun?
Bathroom, bare minimum to keep it clean. Mopped floors, no graffiti. Just rust everywhere, stall closed for “wet floor”, clogged urinal, deteriorating sinks, and a paper towel dispenser that...
Read moreUsually I have a good experience here, I actually love the noodles here more than any other place in town, however the last few times I’ve had more bad experiences than good. The most recent one we were sat really fast which was good, however, the waitress either has 0 experience at serving and has never even been to a restaurant herself as a customer to see how to serve your customers or she didn’t care. We got our first plates(myself, girlfriend, and kid) and sat there eating for about 20-25 minutes and she never checked on us, not even a glance(I sat there with an empty glass for the last 10 of those minutes watching her clean tables way away from us and the group next to us, they had empty glasses too, and we were never got offered a refill once the entire time we were there). All the high chairs are broke and my kid even almost cut his leg on one had we not spotted it and just sat him next to us and after we had been there about 45-50 minutes we were presented the check instead of being offered refills or anything else and when we tried to ask for one she just walked away. The other visits were bad but this experience was by far the worst I’ve had here and I’ve been coming here since they opened. Something has to change if they want anyone to...
