I don't often give five-atar reviews across the board, but this place deserves it. I'm hesitant to go to any Country Kitchen because I rarely get real southern cooking much less southern hospitality. I got both here. This is obviously a locals joint. The servers were calling everyone by name. If they didn't know you, they called you sugar and sweetie, etc. I nice touch. I ordered the pot roast, mashed potatoes, and green beans. The roast was slightly overcooked, but not much. The overall plate was very good. I don't live in Tallahassee, but if I did, I would become a regular here. Very nice place to visit and eat!

Stopped in here for lunch after taking the kids on an outing at the Lake Jackson library branch, because we wanted something close, and this was in the same shopping strip. And we ended up loving it so much. Husband and I both ordered burgers, and they were amazing, classic, huge, juicy burgers. I got mine with the potato logs, and he got onion rings, and we shared some of both, and both were really good. We ordered chocolate chip pancakes, eggs & grits for our two kids, and those were huge meals, so we had lots of leftovers, which they ate all of for dinner that same night.

Lovely old fashioned, locally-owned diner offering southern cooking. The service is down home friendly; you can tell they try to connect with the customers and build lasting relationships. The food is good with huge portions. This is definitely a go to if you don’t feel like cooking. The cornbread muffins are amazing and you can tell that they’re baked fresh from scratch!

Definitely worth a visit.

This is a classic Diner. They have excellent prices with a salt-of-the Earth clientele and staff. The entree of each meal is cooked fresh to order but the sides are showcased in a display that you can peruse before ordering. There is high-bar seating as well as table seating. Daily dinner specials make the price even better. The portions are your average homestyle full plate and maybe a bowl on the side as well.

One problem with that display case is that it allows the sides to get cold pretty quickly when the weather is nippy outside. The front door is right in front of the case so the cold wind will just leach all the heat out. Not a problem in the summer but in winter, be prepared. The entrees and the soups are steamy hot, though.

The flavor and variety of the foods offered are excellent. My son is a vegetarian and was able to find a full meal to suit his tastes. The style of food is your typical southern deep fried and covered in gravy but very well prepared. Service is excellent. The wait staff is perky and upbeat, not too chatty but very welcoming and accommodating. There is only one register and the lady running the till can be a little rushed, professional but not big on eye contact and extra words. She was nice but obviously quite busy.

They lost a star because it is just not a candles and cloth napkins kind of place. Another star down because the dining room is less than comfortable. Still, I will definitely go back. We spent about what we would expect to at a fast food place and less than a specialty cuisine place and it was really good. I will update with a breakfast review...

If you aren’t a ā€œdown homeā€ local, you WILL NOT like this place.

I’ve eaten at the Country Kitchen twice. Once after I first moved to Tallahassee, and I found the food selection to be both narrow and it didn’t taste good. The environment wasn’t the cleanest on my first visit.

I went again today, hoping that it would be better. Our server Martina- was amazing. She was extremely attentive and sweet, and we learned she isn’t a local from the area either. Everything aside from Martina’s excellent service, was awful.

I ordered a bowl of steak with eggs, and it came out as a country fried steak (not listed on the menu as such) and smothered in so much gravy that I could barely eat it. My mother’s meat was ordered to be medium and came back over cooked. We chose a table away from the other patrons by a corner, and several of the ā€œold ladiesā€ who worked there (they appeared to be management of some kind) would stop and stare at us while we ate. It was both rude and unnerving.

When we went to check out, one of the older ladies was at the counter, and I had witnessed her take payment from several other customers in a row. I went up to pay, I greeted her with a hello, she met my eyes, said nothing, then turned away and began talking to one of what I assumed was a regular patron. She continued to ignore me until Martina came up and began to check out my bill.

I will never go to this establishment again. Customers are supposed To be treated respectfully, no matter who or what they are. If I’m not a local. That’s no reason to treat me like I’m...

So today I made a visit with my misses fir a lunch date, we had no problem finding seating at all but definitely came during the busy hours. Now cleanliness is lacking at the counter becsusr as we sat diwn there waa grease prints in oir surrounding area. But the reason fir the lack pf stars is plain out the food has no fill or taste to it and there definitely wasnt much country to the fiid since most if it was typical food one can cook at home but definitely seasoning and the love is missing. I decided to have the open face roast beef definitely tasted like it wasnt cooked long enough on top of that the gravy was bland and tasted right out of a frozen section. Next, comes the coleslaw now the food prep new what they were doing and was just liie gma used to make. Lastly, we come to the mac and cheese this honestly was a disgrace to country mac and cheese because it tasted lije something you can find in any frozen section of any grocery store, cheese lacked any texture if it was me one would enjoy a stoffers mac and cheese or enjoy a mac and cheesw cup from...
