A Hidden Gem That Deserves a Michelin Mention
When my Uber dropped me off at Bar Terroir, I honestly thought—what is this place? It looked like a small, unassuming building tucked into an aging shopping center. The vibe reminded me of the old Westshore area, where restaurants seem to come and go. From the outside, it didn’t match the sleek, upscale look of their website. I’ve seen places like this before, and I wasn’t expecting much.
But the moment I walked in, things started to shift. The space was intimate—just a cozy bar and a few tables. It wasn’t trying too hard to be fancy, and honestly, I was so glad I forgot to wear heels on this double date. The vibe was a bit of a mixed bag—chic meets casual—but it all faded away the second the food hit the table.
Holy. Flavor. Bomb.
We started with a tomato-cucumber salad that literally blew my mind. I have no idea what magic was in that dish, but there was some kind of sauce or gel-like element that tasted like soft pillows of flavor melting on my tongue. Then came the escargot—absolutely divine. Every single dish had a unique flavor profile, yet everything was perfectly balanced.
For my main, I had the lobster gnocchi. I braced myself for the usual dry, over-sauced disappointment you get at most places, but not here. These gnocchi were delicate and pillowy, with just the right amount of light, flavorful sauce. The lobster was juicy and tender—so good it almost fused into the gnocchi like one dreamy, buttery bite.
And dessert? Some kind of elevated bread pudding that sent my taste buds straight to heaven. I was floating. Sweet, comforting, perfectly balanced—I couldn’t stop smiling.
Let’s not forget our server, Trinity, who was just as incredible as the food. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and warm, which made the entire experience feel even more special.
I’ve been lucky enough to dine at Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, and I’ll say this boldly: Bar Terroir beats most of them in flavor. They absolutely deserve a Michelin mention.

Read moreWe had bar seats. Not sure that was a request or a requirement to have the privledge of dining here. Resy is the worst reservation app. I try to not go to restaurants that use it exclusively. The bar service felt snooty and forced. Despite it being a 7:45pm reservation on a school night they requested we order all at once. We didn’t. The French 75 was enjoyed. The Sazerac Au Poivre not so much. A batch cocktail from an unlabeled bottle and tasted like drinking brown sugar. No precense of Absinthe. The bar youth made good on it though and I switched to Cazdores Reposado.
There are no sides here and accompaniments with mains are mostly starch based. We started with escargo, the mussel puffed pastry and the salad which was described as iceberg lettuce but clearly not. The snails were delicious but $22 is steep. We expected strong garlic here but on the salad too…over done. Ladrón on the salad was a nice surprise. The puff pastry mussel app was the star. Delicious broth and dipping the pastry shell in, devine.
Mains ordered were the Sole and Boeuf. Meuniére is a classic preparation in French cuisine and I was excited for it. It was okay. Too salty and maybe 3oz of fish. The pommes noisettes looked like pearl onions, but instead tasty morsales of deliciousness. For the Bourguignon, similarly classic French dish that was pretty much spot on. A hearty meaty dark main.
The atmosphere was nothing special but a nice low chatter around the room. Can’t say I heard music but that didn’t bother me as it typically does.
Looks like an outdoor patio is coming. Special nod to the Pulp Fiction themed restroom. Thanks for...
Read moreBar terroir was a nice reminder that there still places that justify dressing up and valeting your vehicle. Often times it’s hard to leave a place without feeling that it was overpriced and it under delivered. Maybe it’s just me who still feels this way, but having dinner here tonight was a nice gut check that “hey, maybe it’s not all too bad”. To be honest, it was a lot more than that.
My partner and I started off with the baguette, steak tartare and tomato (yes, we like our apps). The baguette was grilled and accompanied by a salted butter that was softened. The tartare was pleasant and the tomato offered a refreshing bite to reset my palette before taking the next sip of my lemongrass Negroni (gotta get those veggies in).
The entrees then came out and we had gotten vegetarian truffle gnocchi and the heritage chicken. The gnocchi was pillowy and acted as the perfect vessel for the sauce it was served in. My chicken beared a nice glistening brown crust, locking in every ounce of juice to savor.
We wrapped up with the tart, which was a bit salty for my taste and the ice cream wasn’t as creamy as I would hope, but overall it was still great. Our waitress Trinaty was on top of everything, and the ambience was warm and inviting.
Overall, I can’t wait to be back, even if it means I have...
