Four Green Fields — Restaurant in Tampa

Food and bar experience was excellent. Weighted average review however is a three. Bartender was a five, floor server a zero. Popped into the bar and grabbed a beer, realized I had to take a call 15 minutes later. Asked bartender if I could go to one of the 10+ empty tables, to which he said no problem. During the 30 minutes I sat at a table as far out of the way as possible, the female server came over twice to excoriate me for sitting there. The restaurant was pretty empty, with two tables in her section vacant. She came back ten minutes later complaining again that I was at one of “her tables”. She was downright nasty the second time she came over and lost a sale (I wanted to sit at a table and eat versus the bar). My wife and I used to travel frequently to Tampa, and were very happy to find this restaurant right near the gate to New York. The food here is always excellent, and they also offer a good beer selection. Try the Guinness beef stew - you may never have had anything quite like it. Service, however, is hit-or-miss at best, and can be downright surly. The waitresses always complain about being short-staffed. But even mediocre service is good, in the sense that it gives you something to talk about. One time we were greeted by a guy who may be one of the most unfriendly bartender/head servers in Florida. Once we did have a waitress who was very nice. I think this place offers the best eats in the whole terminal, so put up with its eccentricities and you will most likely leave...

Absolutely awful. Server was short with me when she took my order - which I may have understood if they were busy, but that was not the case. I ordered the Irish Potato Boats - horrible. The potatoes were microwaved, not baked, the "shepherds pie beef" tasted more like chili than shepherds pie, and there were no green onions. Ok, you win some and you lose some. I wanted to order something different - but after 40 minutes the wait staff didn't come check on me even once, and they weren't busy. Even when I tried to get their attention they never seemed to look my way. I guess I could have gotten up and chased them, but that seems unnecessary. Overall, wouldn't try again.
