Lived in Tampa for almost a decade and loved visiting Grimaldi's Pizzeria in Citrus Park. Had only been to the Westshore location a few times, but while back in Tampa visiting decided to meet up with friends for lunch. We met outside at 1100 am and seated promptly with a party of 6. Manager seated us and we perused the menu for a few minutes. Ordered VERY simplistic items -- LARGE CHEESE PIZZA, spinach salad and 6 sodas. Easy right? Placed order at 11:10 am ..... at 11:48 am manager schleped over to relay that the kitchen burned our pizza. I looked around us to see every.table already has their pizza, refills, desserts. While I was enjoying the company of my friends --- now I am getting annoyed. Had to ask for salad and refills. The high maintenance table behind us was getting all of our waiters attention. The manager never apologized nor did he offer the 3 year old at our table bread ... NOTHING! Pizza FINALLY came out an hour later. Surprise .. no one ever asked, "How is your meal? Need refills? Dessert? You need anything else"? Tracked down clueless waiter (Ed)? and requested check. Conveyed my dissatisfaction with lack of service, burnt pizza and zero refills. Crappy manager walked over (it is now 1230 pm.... an hour & a half later) asking, "what's the problem"? Where do I begin? He was actually charging us for the burnt pizza? Manager began arguing with me and reluctantly removed burnt pizza. Offered us a $5 gift card.... huh? Took no responsibility for subpar service. Manager and server need to be retrained on customer service. Would I come back? Hell no and neither would any of my...
Read moreDecent, but not great. Pretty disappointed overall. A medium pizza with 2 toppings cost me $26 (before tip) and was so greasy that the toppings and cheese were sliding off of it. I’ve had worse, but this definitely did not meet expectations after seeing so many positive reviews. The worst part by far was the experience. There were fruit flies absolutely everywhere to the point it was distracting - and I was fending them off my food, which is pretty gross. Then there’s the employees. Ugh. Sure, it was around 5:30 on a random Weds but STILL. The staff should be downright embarrassed about the conversations being had. Management - this is a case where you are actually overstaffed. There were no less than 3 employees standing around chit chatting at the front of the restaurant at any given time. Being that I was by myself, I sat at the bar, which I believe was a mistake. I’m not one to get easily offended but the conversations were ridiculous and very loud, ranging from Chic-fil-A ownership to religion! I mean... really?!! I don’t want to go out to eat to listen to some kids rant about Christianity, and I honestly can’t believe this kind of high volume conversation is tolerated when employees are supposed to be working. With just a handful of guests and so many people working, the experience should have been top notch! All that to say, I’ll stick to Anthony’s Coal...
Read moreFirst time back in four years and we were very disappointed. I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about as our food was nothing like what they described. Let me first say that we go out A LOT and don't mind paying high prices for food, material things, or experiences, but what you get has to be worth the extra cost. Similarly, when I pay fast food prices, I don't expect Michelin-quality food. In other words, my expectations are in line with a sane person.
My wife and I went to Grimaldi's at West Shore Mall for dinner tonight. Ordered a 12" gluten-free pizza with chicken and a 16" traditional with bacon. Both were paper thin, extremely dry, hard and lacking in taste. There were barely any sauce or cheese. The 12" gf pizza ended up costing $24, which didn't sit well with me since what we got wouldn't compare to something we can get from a dive strip mall take-out pizza joint. I had a beer, she had a glass of house red, and we shared a small (tiny rather) salad. The total bill with tip came to almost $100. Not that that is an outrageous price for dinner, but for what we got, it was indeed an outrage. The atmosphere was decent, but that's not nearly enough to get us back there. There are too many good places in TB for us to waste our time and money ever again...
