After being a China City, once every month customer for the past several years, I decided to try Ho King So long China City. After our first two meals Sesame Chicken and another dish I was sold. I love fried rice and their is very good with bits of pork, onion and some spice, For the next two weeks we were now eating their meals twice a week. Of course there meals are usually enough for two or a second meal later. I must admit I drank the Kool aid and would have easily given them a 4+ until this week. I ordered their S&S Chicken and expected something like pictured on their wall and in their menu. Instead of chicken bathed in a sauce with peppers, onion and pineapple, I received plain fried chicken and a bowl of sugar/vinegar water tinted pink. This is inexcusable and a fraud compared to what they picture. It's also crap S&S preparation. Such a waste! Odd that orange chicken and sesame chicken come bathed in the sauce unlike the bowl of sugar water that comes with the S&S Chicken. Last week the Szechuan Beef was very good with nice pieces of tender beef obviously thinly sliced on the bias. This week the beef was cut like french fries and was tough sticks. Not very good especially compared to what we received the week earlier. Due to an obvious language barrier, it's also impossible to explain these problems so I hope they read this review. Oddly, despite what they will tell you, the entrée and rice portions of their lunch "special" is as large or in some cases larger than their dinner "combination." Their egg rolls are very good and a nice size being about 50% larger that China City. Their fried chicken used in so many dishes is of very high quality and appears to be almost all white breast meat. Sesame chicken should be more than just sesame seed sprinkled on a honey sauced chicken. Throw those seed in the wok for a few second to toast them and bring out their flavor. The wonton soup has nice wontons but a broth that is flavorless. Unlike the salty China City broth, this won needs help with either some garlic, a bit of salt or other flavoring. Wontons are good but the broth hurts the presentation and effect. So instead of that 4+ I have to go with a 2+ due to their latest product, inconsistency, weak soup broth and their inexcusable S&S Chicken for the reasons noted. However, I will return and hope for improvement. FIX THE S&S...
Read moreOk so, I usually don't go around filling out reviews but this one deserves it! I live in New Tampa, and I have to admit that it is very difficult to find a good Chinese food take out in the area (I have tried all on BBD Blvd from Bears to County Ln Rd.). I have my preferred place, but it's like 7 miles from home. Today, I wasn't feeling like driving so far to pick up food. I made a search for any new places and found out that this place is right across from my place. After reviewing some of the negative reviews there was one or two positive recent ones that got my attention, and one of them was from a fellow Hispanic I said, C'mon, if a Hispanic gave out a good review with so much passion, it must be good! I ordered sesame chicken with beef fried yellow rice, shrimp egg-roll, egg drop soup and fried chicken. I must say that EVERYTHING was delicious!!! I am so happy that I gave this place a chance and happier that I no longer have to drive 7 miles to buy good Chinese food.
Please, be mindful when giving negative reviews to a food place. Remember that your taste buds are not the same for everyone, and giving bad reviews for having to wait to take your order doesn't count neither, that is irrelevant. I measure quantity, quality, tenderness, taste and price. This place met my expectations!
P.S.: Sorry for the photo presentation, I served my portion before taking these photos and almost forgot to...
Read moreMy wife had one good lunch here so we thought we'd pick up dinner on 4/10/16. That was a big mistake . We ordered orange beef which I expected to be like chun-pi beef and General Tso's chicken. They were two of the worst Chinese dishes I've ever had. Greasy soggy breaded nastiness and the sauces were terrible as well. The only thing decent was the white rice and crab rangoon, but barely decent. The orange beef didn't even have any identifiable beef in it... it was just a greasy ball of dough with a few specks of hamburger scattered in it...it was disgusting. So I'm out $30 for one of the worst meals I have had . The lunch my wife had was the cashew chicken which I actually got to taste and it was quite good so I guess they have one good dish if you're lucky and the same cook is there. Ho King... All hail the King of...
