kanka's peruvian tex-mex cuisine — Restaurant in Tampa

I went to Kanka's by recommendation of my son and his family who eat a lot and found the "Monstrito" (little monster) chicken portions large and yummy, well cooked and with plenty of French fries for the kids. He told me about the menu because I love that cuisine and especially Lomo Salteado which I hadn't found attractive anywhere. The dish was attractive and delicious, the meat was fresh and tender, loved the white rice SOOOO "DESGRANADO", all the "trimmings" and the ambiance, the colors and wall pictures which brought memories from home. The service was very friendly, timely and courteous. Just loved it, took a couple of dishes home, and will be back often to try EVERYTHING...

The food is amazing! Recently moving here from NYC, and just 5 minutes away from the Tampa Zoo, we came here in hopes of experiencing good Peruvian food (and I came here based on the reviews) and they did not fail me. We had the Mostrito and the Lomo Saltado. The food was fresh, and plentiful (I had to take some home). The juices were so good I had to take another home. I had the Papaya and a Guayaba. Wow!!! This place is incredible!!!When you walk in you know you are going to get authentic Peruvian cuisine but it so much more. My wife likes traditional Mexican, my kids devour Cuban sandwiches, and I am in my happy place when I get mouth watering Peruvian rotisserie chicken:) They delivered on every item that we ordered and we ordered a lot lol. My only regret is that I forgot to order a cafe con leche, but it gives me the excuse to go again in the coming days. This is our family’s new go to spot. Great job Kanka’s!
