First impression when my party walked in.....looked around and stood there for a good 2 to 3 minutes while a lady was around only a few feet from us doing something on the computer looked at us and went about continuing doing what she was doing . She did not greet us or say hi or inform us if it was self serve or need to wait for someone to seat us .

A few more minutes went by then a waitress approaches us and asked us how many people in our party .

She sat us and left . Did not even say hi or any kind of greeting .

We ordered ...No one came to us to ask if we needed anything else so we flagged down someone to ask for more sauce for the teriyaki chicken, but never recieved the sauce or our water or drinks refillled .

When we asked for the check, wich we had split into two separate checks and we did inform the lady in the beginning who took our order that it would be 2 seperate checks, the lady placed the tablet infront of the person who is going to pay for one of the check and proceed to just stand over him looming, proceeded to rush him by taking the tablet from him and proceed to say i'll print you out a receipt . The gentlemn was older and was not as quik as to navigate the custom tip option as he was looking to do .

She then presented me with the tablet and did the same exact thing and when I went to input my email to have my receipt emailed to me she took the tablet while I was typing and she seemed upset and said quote " oh my god" that I took longer than she would like . She just went storming off and gave me a pyshical recipet .

By the way food was bland and pretty ordinary on top of the bad service or lack of .

There are plenty of of other places that do one thing well and not try to please a wide variety of taste and do it mediocre .

Would not...

Based all the good reviews, I decided to try this place again. I came here 3 years ago to try the BBQ and thought it was average at best. Compared to their competitor not far from them, it was way overpriced and not prepared as well.

Okay back to my most recent visit. I thought I'd try their sushi based on the rave reviews. I ordered two specialty rolls that were very different on paper. But they tasted the same. And honestly, I've purchased sushi from supermarkets that have tasted better.

Service was horrible, there were only a handful of booths that were occupied. After sitting down for 10 minutes, I had to wave down the hostess so I could place my order.

I also ordered from the bbq menu, and although it was flavorful, it was still lacking. And the side dishes were not fresh. The kimchi was disgusting.

I enjoy good food and will happily shell out my hard earned dollars to have good food.

I've tasted fresher and better sushi at a sushi buffet! ... at a lesser price!

To those people that have said that this place has the "best sushi in Tampa," I must say to you.... You have NO IDEA what you are talking about! You don't know what you are missing if you think this is the best! ...

Really hope I can give ZERO star. Please avoid this place if you are looking for good Korean food. Also, please do not come here if you are Asian.

Me and my friends thought to explore new places for Korean food, then we came to this place. Firstly, the waitresses are rude. They gave three of us ONLY ONE menu, we had to ask for an extra. Secondly, she did not give us any utensil when our food are served, we had to ask again. She also did not give me any sauce (which was supposed to come with sauce) for my bibimbap until we requested it. Worst case, she checked on how much tips we gave which I do not think that was ethical. The whole experience was a disaster.

Speaking to food now, this is not Korean food. They said they tend not to make it spicy because American do not like it. But the problem is they make the Kimchi Jigae tasteless, I do not think they put any salt at all. Also, the portion is so small with the price they put.

Lastly, the menu is so confusing, some food is only available in the first menu and some only available in the second menu. We wanted to ask more question but the waitress stopped us.

Horrible experience and I do not understand why some people...

Went here last night for sushi. The prices are pretty decent, the food was great - Miso Soup - tasty, perfectly salted and not watery - Red Dragon Roll - HOT. I had to drink two glasses of water with this, but it was delicious. - Heart breaker Roll - This was a pleasant surprise since I didn't think seared salmon in a roll would be good. Hands down one of the best "cooked" sushi rolls I've had - Shrimp Fried Rice: the kids loved this dish, a very large plate so two people can easily eat this. They weren't stingy with veggies or shrimp Ambiance: The ambiance is nice, very authentic looking, not very formal. Service: so-so, there is a buzzer on the table to ask for the waitress, but ours wasn't working, so we had to try to get her attention several times.

At first, I was very skeptical about how this place would be mainly because of the way the building looked from the outside (plain). However, I was blown away by the decor of the restaurant once I stepped inside. You have private seating, beautiful fish tank, A well-stocked bar. But the most important aspect of this is the food. To put it bluntly, the food was amazing! You can tell the chef takes great pride and how he presents the dishes. The variety was amazing as well. You can have yourself either a Korean cuisine or awesome sushi. We tried both just so that we can bring you our honest opinion. The staff was friendly and a tentative. I definitely recommend this place. This restaurant is nothing short of outstanding.

Matoi Sushi is a great spot for dinner and they are one of the few places that is open past 10pm on a weeknight. Upon arriving, you are immediately immersed in a lavishly-decorated Korean dining room. It is very spacious and is perfect for date night or they can accommodate a big party in one of their rooms in back. The menu is chocked full of different sushi combinations and the staff there is always friendly. Our server, Cha, did a great job with our small party and made sure we had what we needed. Whenever someone wants sushi, I always recommend this place. They are also conveniently located a short distance off of I-275, so travel there is easy. I'll definitely return to Matoi Sushi for a late dinner again!
