Staff is by far excellent from my visit. Ordered brisket. Pulled pork baked beans, chicken wings quarter chicken to eat.
The brisket I got was definitely overcooked or older as it was a very stiff hard to chew meat. I did bring this to the attention to the manager and they replaced it with a fresh brisket which was done very well. The pulled pork consistency was very good, soft chewy.
Baked beans with the meat in it. We're good but are not going to appeal to everybody due to the meat being in the baked beans.
The baked chicken wings are then flash fried and then seasoned with a Asian style sauce which were very good.
Chicken was probably the most flavorful item we had. A lot of the meat didn't have great flavor to it. I know that used prime quality meat but there's something with the seasoning that wasn't coming through on the meat. I would use the barbecue sauce they would have on the table which I felt was watered down and not very barbecued favored. Also usually with the barbecue sauce usually have options. I didn't see any options on any of the other tables other than just this one, which I would probably give a 5 out of a 10 for a sauce.
The other thing I didn't like is that you cannot or do not have the option of a traditional meal where you can get one to three meats into sides. Everything is very a la carte and doesn't fit the standard model of meals. Price was kind of high as for two people and everything we ordered came out to about $70 which is a bit expensive for two people to go out and eat at a barbecue place. For six more dollars. I could have got the entire family meal which is supposed to feed six people. I just see they need to adapt in order to survive. I understand they're an expensive location but they have to understand there are other barbecue places around and they're not doing anything better than anybody else at this moment.
I'll definitely give them another try but They need to create lunch specials to drive in the lunchtime, crowd of business individuals throughout the week. And improve on flavor as I think the quality of the food is good. The flavor the food is very bland and non-impactful and need to improve the barbecue sauce as well. Again they just opened. Maybe this is just part of trying to handle the rush as there was a line of people the entire time I was there which was a little over an hour and that also made it hard to park because the parking lot only holds so many cars. I'll update my post over time but at the moment they are not my go-to BBQ place in the area but I'll leave that up to other people to make that decision. I just wanted to give my experience and...
Read moreI'm a transplant from the great state of Oklahoma and we take barbecue very seriously. I have been looking for a restaurant that has decent barbecue. There are a few places in Tampa that are acceptable, but none great.
At first I laughed at the marketing "From Brooklyn" because everyone knows Brooklyn is the epicenter of barbecue, not. About the only thing folks from my part of the world know about Brooklyn is something about a baseball player and he played on a team. But we know barbecue.
The place looks clean. I liked the decor of the place and it smelled like wood was being used. That's a good start. There was a line, but it moved pretty quick and this gave me some time to look over the menu. It's not complicated, I like that. I came for some smoked meat, not a bunch of frivolous extras. Although, the corn fritters did catch my eye as curious.
I bought way too much for my family, but that's what happens when you order on an empty stomach. A rack of ribs, pound of brisket, half pound of pulled pork, quart of broccoli salad, quart of corn fritters, pint of macaroni, and a pint of baked beans.
The ribs were amazing. Very tender with a good wood flavor. The brisket was also tender with good flavor. Broccoli salad is my favorite way to eat broccoli and this one is good. Crunchy and just the right among of sweetness. Those corn fritters come with a honey chili sauce and I swear they are likely a new addiction.
I am pleased Mighty Quinn's from Brooklyn opened a barbecue joint in Tampa for this boy from Oklahoma. I like it enough to not even mention, there wasn't fried okra or collard greens on the menu and everyone knows any respectable barbecue joint must have these items on the menu to be judged properly. Obviously, Yankees cooking barbecue are not a threat to Texas barbecue, but their food is very good and we might have to steal those...
Read moreMy daughter and I stopped in for dinner at the Dale Mabry location. My first impression was a positive one as I found the decor to be astetically pleasing, unfortunately our pleasant experience ended there. Although I observed several of the tables to be occupied there was no line at thr counter. Given it was our first time in, we had a couple of questions regarding menu items which ended up on our trays despite not having asked for which was ironic considering two of the items we asked for did not. Upon completing our order we were provided a table topper in lieu of the sweet corn fritters we ordered and were assured they would be brought to our table when they were ready. I them found the sweet tea dispenser to be empty, and was advised they would prepare some more and bring that to our table as well, which never happened because we finished our meals before receiving the corn fritters or the tea. As we prepared to leave I approached the register with my table topper so as to request the fritters I had already payed for. I stood patiently waiting as an employee assisted other customers who were paying for their meals, however, grew increasingly frustrated due to being ignored the 3 employee working the counter. Eventually I was approached by a representative who was provided with a detailed explanation regarding the purpose of my presence at the counter. It quickly became evident the fritters had been forgotten, at which time I was asked to wait so they could prepare some despite the fact we had already consumed our meals and wished to go. We eventually left with the fritters, but the entire experience was less than pleasant. The staff appeared disorganized and poor trained, and the funk fusion rap was annoying, entirely too loud and not at all conducive to a pleasurable dining experience. Love to support local business but we will not...
