Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Tampa

While growing up I had always visited Florida due to family living there. Everytime I would visit, Steak n' Shake was a must have! I loved there food and efficiency! Unfortunately I can't say the same after my last couple experiences there. A few days ago my family of 3 and I were excited to sit down and have a good burger, so Steak n' Shake was our go to. We walked in and stood at the door for an unnecessary amount of time, after 10 minutes of having waitresses that were slowly wandering around, glancing at us, we got sat. The "hostess/waitress" not sure what she was titled as took us to our table. Our waitress was quite friendly so that was a plus, she took our order. Chili cheese fries as an "appetizer" two shakes to split between us and our burgers. Behind us their was a couple that had been sat shortly after us that nobody had waited on...we heard another waitress walk up and say that somebody will be with them shortly but nobody came...eventually that same woman went back to their table and said well apparently your my table because these girls said they don't want you...she then walked away from them shaking her head. So after 20 minutes or so our food gets delivered which would normally be great except she forgot a couple of sides of sauce we requested...and we had yet to receive our shakes and our appetizer was delivered with the meal...so I reminded her of the sides when she arrived with our food....but after 5 minutes of watching her walk around checking on other customers and proceeding to another waitress which I believe her name was Rishanda, I walked up to them and asked for my sides of sauces...our waitress was nice and explained that she was sorry that the cooks had to prepare the sauces...so I stood there to wait and the other waitress she had been talking to walks out from behind the counter and says yes? I respond with "I'm waiting to get my sauces...and my shakes that we still haven't received and we're now eating our lunch" and she explains well this table had three shakes before you....sooo.....I shook my head and said we haven't received our shakes still and we're eating lunch so...hmmm..and she mocked me, shaking her head and walking away...not even making it right by getting our shakes ready. Our waitress apologized greatly seeming embarrased of the actions of her coworker. I don't blame our waitress...she may have been new, I'm not sure but my family was not satisfied with the service that day and we will never return to that specific one which is super sad. In my opinion Steak n' Shake cooperate managers need to hire more employees so they are not short handed and maybe be stricter about who their employing...because if I was them and had an employee like Rishanda...I would be humiliated that she is the one representing my company...because she surely is not doing it correctly. Sorry Steak'n Shake... we pulled up to this place after our concert, there were several people not working looking straight at us who didn't bother to greet us. I am quite obviously disabled and no one bothered to come over for at least 5 minutes, when they finally did come over and see us the table we were seated at was wiped off but far from clean. After another 10 minutes they brought us over our drinks that were in glasses that had been washed but again we're nowhere near clean. My daughter use the bathroom and came out visibly bothered, so I went in there and was horrified. Not only was it not clean with feces stuck all around the inside of the toilet, but the bathroom itself was in bad need of repair. They were busted tiles, cracks in the floor tile, paper towel boxes not hung properly broken places where there once were other items, and just residue where nothing had been cleaned properly in a very very long time. I truly hope that at the corporate level, this company gets it back together. Because you can blame the people at the end of vigil restaurants... but it's not just this restaurant having a problem... and that comes from the top down. Maybe more of your "Executives" should actually eat at the restaurants for which they are responsible. It is clear that corporate management is the issue in this company at this time. I have been to 11 different Steak n Shake's in the last few months all over the place and they were all the same. They were all dirty, quality control head drastically gone downhill, and every one of the restaurants was in need of repair and a deep deep cleaning. I've been going Steak'n Shakes my whole life, all over the place. It is my go-to restaurant whenever I'm out of town, or even in town, when I need a quick bite and/or an inexpensive place to go have a good meal. And a good time. Cutting cost always works better when it's done with improving the quality of the food preparation, employees, and the customer's experience. Letting your restaurants go down hill will end up costing everyone their jobs. The whole point of going to a franchise or corporate restaurant it so that quality is maintained throughout the organization. Poor management. Nobody there ever smiles. The wait staff is unwelcoming. On a recent visit, I had reluctantly returned because the manager said she would comp my meal because they completely fubared a prior to-go order. Upon arriving, I waited for about 5 minutes to be seated. I finally just took the initiative to ask a waitress standing there assembling a paper car, if I can just seat myself. There were a total of 3 other parties, aside from me in the restaurant at the time. When I explained to the manager on duty what happened with my last order, I also told her that the other manager would write my name in the book so I can can 2 meals on comp. The manger on duty had no idea what book the other manager was referring to. When ordering my food I asked for water from my waitress, but never got it. I guess she was overwhelmed with the other 2 customers. I finally got water from a different waitress who served our food. She asked if I had ordered a drink and I said yes, water, but I don't know where my waitress is so I'm still waiting. She proceeded to get my water since my waitress was MIA. Then I ordered the swiss portobello mushroom burger. When I got my food, my burger had no cheese. My waitress neglected to check on me and prceeded to assisted a new table that sat down. She saw my burger was off to the end of the table and didn't even bother to ask I'f we needed anything. I saw the manager walk by and told her my burger was miss6the swiss cheese and she said "oh, they didn't tell you we have no swiss cheese?". The waitress neglected to tell me that and she was apparently clueless that I was dissatisfied because she never bothered to check on our table. I find the staff is somewhat rude and highly unprofessional and the managers dont really do anything about. If you like steak n shake, then do yourself a favor and dont visit...
