We were able to sit outside right away, probably the only positive thing to happen our entire visit. Our server came over and brought us a coffee menu, but no regular menus. 15 minutes goes by (she hasn’t been by our table at all) so we flag down the other server waiting on the patio tables. We ask him for menus and let’s our server know. She comes over and says “oh I was coming to take your orders already, sorry!” We ordered coffee drinks, mine being iced, and ordered the Red Velvet Chicken & Waffles and the Hangover. Another 15 minutes goes by and we finally receive our drinks and my iced macchiato was room temperature caramelly milk with a hint of coffee. An additional 40 minutes goes by and the server who we had flagged down earlier comes out and asks us if we had gotten our food. At no point did our actual server come by..Shout out to Fabrizio, the only person there that cared about our experience because our server was NOWHERE to be found. After Fabrizio checked on us, THEN our actual server comes by and just casually says “your food will be right out” as if we hadn’t been sitting there for over an hour at this point. The food comes out a couple of minutes after that. My chicken and waffles tasted like they were reheated in the microwave for 20 seconds, not freshly made. My husband’s Hangover had a soup of GREASE at the bottom of his bowl that we can still taste in our mouths hours later. The server comes by to “see how everything is” because she noticed I had pushed my plate to the side and she went and got the manager. The manager came out to apologize about the food not being hot and we told her that it wasn’t even about the food but the entire experience being absolutely awful and the service was the worst part of it. The server was still standing right there(not sure why??) and making excuses for everything from “we’re really busy” “tickets got mixed up” etc etc. But none of that explains why she was so inattentive and the fact that another server realized we hadn’t gotten our food and checked in on us. The manager apologized and offered to comp our food but at that point, we were so done with this place we told her we were leaving. We weren’t going to sit around and wait who knows how long for new meals.
I’m not sure what is going on with the way this restaurant is being run, but everything was just terrible and I don’t see how we could ever bring ourselves to...
Read moreThis is an updated review. I always like to give restaurants a few tries. Especially a new business. It takes some time to get all the links worked out. We went for breakfast today and it was sooo good!!! We went mid morning, they were busy but we were able to sit imediately. We were brought menus and water almost as soon as we sat. They even remembered us and placed a pitcher on the table for us. We were pleased to see a lot of changes to the menu including making the French Toast a permanent menu item. We ordered a few different things. When the food came out, everything was hot and cooked beautifully. They even remembered the side of fruit! Service was wonderful and the food amazing. This is going to be my favorite breakfast spot in Tampa!!
The newest brunch and breakfast spot in Tampa! Newly opened in the old Smoke Shack building, it's completely and utterly different! Gorgeous and comfy. With tables inside and out, it's small without being crowded. Fairly full on Sunday, we managed to grab one of the few open tables. They do have a bar you can sit at or you can grab a few things to go if you don't want to wait. The menu is fairly straight forward with the usual breakfast fare in addition to some unique and tasty looking meals. There is a specialty coffee menu and mimosas to sip if you are so inclined. I ordered the chefs meal, 2 eggs, potatoes and bacon. Whatever you order make sure you get bacon. They are serving Nueskes bacon and it's the best!! Today's special was French toast with raspberry sauce, so we ordered that. The food came out piping hot, which I love. My eggs were pretty greasy so I didn't finish them. The potatoes have red peppers and onions. I'm not a fan but they were good. The French toast was soft with crunchy quarters. Great flavor, tho and loved the raspberry sauce. I can't wait to head back and try some thing different and the coffee. It's really a great space and the staff is really sweet. They consistently make sure you are doing well and keep water glasses full. My only complaint, after they drop the food off, there is no follow up and it took a really long time to get the bill. Otherwise, they...
Read morePlace is in steep decline. A few months ago, the food and service were great. We kept going back. This past Sunday, my wife and I went for brunch (after the big rush but not too late- 12:45 PM) and had a terrible experience in more ways than one.
Please keep in mind, I'm former hospitality industry and the wife is current so we were nice, polite, and patient throughout this whole BS. Still angry about the way we were treated, especially as repeat customers. Told all my friends in our South Tampa neighborhood too. I don't normally leave reviews, just a rating but be warned- this place...
