This is officially my new go-to for a lovely dinner! After drooling over their Instagram for weeks, I finally managed to make my way there with friends for a fun Friday night dinner! (Btw, if you aren't following them on Instagram, you really should be)
I did make reservations, not sure how busy they get on Fridays. Going early means there isn't a crowd, the crowd picked up closer to 7ish. We walked from Sparkman, so not sure how the parking is, they are on Harbour Island.
The restaurant is super clean and bright. It's also, uncluttered and super cute! Our server was amazing. She was super attentive, made sure our waters were kept full (they leave a carafe of water on the table)
We started with apps and a lovely bottle of wine. The wine list is brief and has some lovely wines on it, including a Tempranillo.
The food is AMAZING! Everything is fresh. The server said there are no freezers. The menu is seasonal and changes. So pay attention. We ordered the calamari and mussels. YUM!! The two apps were plenty to share among 4 people.
For dinner, we ordered an assortment of fish and red meat. Everything was scrumptious. Every single dish was perfectly seasoned, prepared and paired with perfect sauces and seasonings. We got all the veggies on the side so we could share. Best idea ever. Serving sizes where well-proportioned.
I had the lobster tail and steak. Not overly priced and cooked wonderfully. I like my steak a rare-medium and it was a little more done than I like, that's fine, it's hard to get a little rare without going full rare. I know, that if I sent it back it would have been redone. I chose not to send it back so I could enjoy my meal with my friends and frankly it was delicious.
We skipped dessert and I was a little bummed about it, they looked super good but we were super full.
The prices are reasonable and not overly expensive. Totally worth it for the service you get and the fresh food!! I can't...
Read moreWas very surprised that on Saturday morning I was able to use yelp reservation and plug in a reservation for 5 since after reading past reviews I was attracted to try the restaurant. Nonetheless, my wife and friends walked into a nearly empty restaurant at 6:45 p.m. Our server was a spirited young lady by the name of Amanda who was very knowledgeable on the menu items and attentive to our needs. By the time the meal was over the restaurant was nearly full and still Amanda did well to keep up as well as other support staff stepping in to make sure we were taken care of. We ordered the fried calamari and smoked fish spread which were delish and ample for the table. I would have maybe ordered the baked 3 cheese macaroni to sample with the appetizers also which we later found out was very tasty as one of our guests ordered it as a side. Otherwise, most of the choices of the entrees were scrumptious. Steaks and grilled swordfish were the choices. One entree was the red chili gulf grouper which was a very small portion in relation to the other entrees for $29. Very tasty but for a larger appetite not. Otherwise, no complaints as the entire staff were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a loft style feel with beautiful views into downtown Tampa and an easy walk from Waterstreet, riverwalk...
Read moreThe only reasing I am leaving 2 stars is because our server was great! Let me start off by describing the appetizer, a fish spread, came in a tiny glass cup maybe 4oz, watery where it slid off the cracker. Flavor? Almost there. I decided to try the Scallops and Pork Belly, sounds amazing! Also came with lentils... Wich is a bit odd combo. So, basically the dish came out Grey, I mean reheated gray, if you think for a second they would caramelized that pork belly and incorporate some sort of flavor in, nope. Let's boil the lentils and raw pork belly to achieve that wonderful mush, and color pattern... I will say the scallops were beautiful but the preparation, still lacking. You could tell the sautéed was done in oil and nothing else. I'm buying this place a spice cabinet, because my God. SALT AND Pepper go a long way. If in doubt trust the French, BUTTER BUTTER Butter. My mother decided to try the Butternut Gnocchi in a "Parmesano Cream sauce" Gnocchi was extremely dry, with tons of hint of allspice, wich are OK if that sauce pair properly. Nope, no sauce, no parmesano to be tasted, but boy did we get a can of pees per dish. As you read this and think I'm a horrible human being, I'm not, I love good food and I'm willing to support all my local stablishments. On a good note Happy Hour offered half off...
