Doraku Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Tamuning Municipality

Easily some of the best Japanese food I've had the opportunity of trying on island. Tori karaage is honestly the best I've ever had here. The nigiri is phenomenal. The overall quality of the food is simply top tier. Now the service on the other hand, can be a bit slow especially when they're busier or are serving multiple groups, which could be expected to a certain extent. With few seats available it can prove difficult sometimes to get a seat for yourself, let alone slightly larger groups. Recommend making a reservation if you can prior to dining in. Surprisingly, I have yet to try the noodle dishes available, but is of now I have yet to have a dish that I wouldn't recommend here. With it being a smaller restaurant, it generates a type of warmth comparable to being at home. It's off the beaten path and tucked away at the bottom of a hotel making this place a true hidden gem. You cannot go wrong with any dish you choose here as passion is poured into every meal...

The bad: parking sucks. There are only 4 or 5 spots reserved for the restaurant. Almost always taken. You need to park out near the street or in the non-existent guest parking or be prepared to feel the wrath of angry tenants. The service is slow and sucks. We sat down, waited about 15 minutes before the waitress came to take our order, and I pointed out she never gave is menus. So she quickly got us menus, threw em on the table, and stood there waiting for us to order.

The good: food is pretty good. Izakaya style, mostly small plates and appetizers. Ordering geso karaage or chicken karaage gives you no mayo or anything. So I asked for a side of spicy mayo and they gave me mayo with hot sauce on it. Tofu steak is good. Sushi is ok. I don't think that was real hamachi on the Nigiri. I think it was kampachi or...

Food is good and the portions for the price are reasonable. I had the beef steak and it's a pretty decent size. My friends got the sushi and we found out a bit to late that they put the Wasabi inside the sushi.

Had to give it 3 stars though because the parking is pretty bad. If you're going to be going there be prepared for a good walk down and up a steep hill. The parking itself is reason enough for me not...
