Carnival Buffet — Restaurant in Taylorsville

Expensive for a Chinese buffet, first negative. Besides the waitress who served us, the rest of the staff was not friendly at all. Got up to the buffet and found there was actually very little food in the containers. It looked like most of it had been picked over, and we only got there at 6:00 p.m. so not very late for dinner. The food also just didn't look very good. After looking over my options and choosing a couple of things I got back to my table and started trying what I had taken. To say it was cold is an understatement. The food had obviously been sitting there for a while and was still tasting and not appetizing at all. The chicken and other meats all tasted like low quality and I even found some gristle in the beef. So that was gross. I was hoping maybe it was just that since the items had gotten to a low point it was all just the bad stuff left behind. When I went up to get refills on items I was hoping maybe they would have replaced it. They did not. It seems Management's policy here is to tell their staff not to replace items with new food until the last piece of food is taken out of the container. That or the staff refilling the food is just really lazy. Either way, it resulted in the clearly bad and old food being left behind by everyone passing it over. So there was actually very little options. Not to mention basically everything I did try had no flavor. It just wasn't good. The only real redeeming factor for the place is that it does have a stir fry girl feature. So unfortunately they clearly use the same low quality meat in that section as well. The crab and shrimp that they had their, which I normally like seafood, tasted particularly gross. The rest of the meat was fine, except it was low quality and obviously chopped up to bits so instead of getting chunks of me when you tried to eat it you ended up with more like bacon bits kind of chunks. Weird to say the least. Thankfully the noodles and vegetables when cooked on the grill came out particularly hot and fresh tasting so that was good. Unfortunately I was pretty irritated I had paid as much money as I did for noodles and vegetables. The last thing I tried out was the dessert and although it looked appetizing it was also not good. After trying a small amount of every dessert item they either tasted stale or had weird taste. Even the carrot cake which I thought at first was good had a strange aftertaste. The ice cream machine which looked fine ended up being very watery ice cream and tasted more like ice crystals than anything. I was really tempted to ask for my money back, but I decided to just get out of the place and not return. Overall a waste of money and to be honest I felt sick to my stomach the rest of the night....

On to the good things: Our server was friendly and polite. Their Mongolian stir fry is definitely better than that of other places, they don’t burn/overcook your stir fry plate.

On the other hand, the food selection here is not as diverse compared to other places with the similar price range. You get some typical fried rice, orange chicken, crispy shrimp, a salad bar, some dessert and so on, but nothing more than that. The sushi station also does not have variety.

What I don’t like is the person at the sushi bar, who had the worst attitude. He started off by commenting on how he had never seen anyone getting sushi here like I did right at the first moment I came over to the station. He then proceeded to keep commenting on me getting the food that I paid for with an attitude. I chose the sushi pieces I wanted and paid for, because the other pieces were poorly made and looked deconstructed. He rudely questioned me with frustration about why I did not choose those bad sushi pieces. At one point when I put the tong down after I was done, he took the tong and slammed rudely it on to the plastic tray right in front of me. How ridiculous is this?! My sister was standing right next to me and was startled by that as well.

I lost my appetite right after. I have never encountered any person this rude at any other buffet places. I was here to have a good lunch with my family on a regular Sunday, not to beg anyone for food. As you can tell, I do not recommend this place at all, and will...

Took my family for dinner for a special celebration was shown ignorance disrespect by the drink/table cleaning employee she was a woman in her 50's with grey short hair white lady she had a negative attitude when she came to our table spilled water right away numerous times all over our table without apologizing without cleaning it up the first time it was a forth glass of water all over our plates silverware the second time was a half glass of water that covered the majority of the table leaving my young son with autism clothing soak and wet. She never apologized at any time not once not even to my family member with a disability all we got was a sarcastic oops and repeated behaviors from this employee.She also left dirty dishes on our table numerous times and refused to collect them so we can have room to eat along with a clean table to eat on This server behavior and ignorance clearly is unprofessional prejudice against multiple colors of people just out celebrating a young individual with special needs special day.Mind u during this whole disappointment experience I kept telling myself I'm going to be the bigger person and not at say something rude to this employee who is showing ignorance towards my family for no reason. this Taylorsville location has only been there for barely a year I will NOT recommend this location as long as they have unprofessional employees like that lady with that attitude and behavior...
