So far I've been to schmidts in sugarhouse, and here. The one in sugarhouse is hands down my favorite bakery, very good products, for the price they become amazing products. I've had better donuts sure, but not for 60 cents. Better ones are usually 3$ each. The biggest problem with this one, is how quickly they run out of stuff. Sugarhouse runs out of the popular stuff somewhere between 3-6pm, this one it's more like 12-2. I mean to me if you consistently run out of these products, then you should order more so that you have more to sell each day. not only does this make the customer happy, but it makes you more money. So I'm surprised they haven't yet. The staff is hit n miss. Some are friendly, others are just wanting to be done with that shift. Typically I enjoy the (this isn't by exact name but it's what I call them) smore brownies. Has every thing that smores have, but mushed together. They are een better then smores, and considerably less messy. The chocolate balls on a stick. It looks like a chocolate lollipop. it's amazing. tastes like a cake batter mixed with peanut butter, cover in chocolate. The chocolate glazed donuts are to die for, perfect amount of chocolate, not too much not too little. These (at this location) are consistently out of stock. Old fashioned donuts (the fried wrinkly ones with the glaze on them) are the perfect density, but also consistently out of stock. The brownies, are great. Basically everything is great, just the fact that the best stuff is typically...
Read moreWow. What a huge disappointment with Schmidt's. Today is my son's birthday (yes both of them, 18 and 22) and we went to the bakery on Redwood road to pick up the cake that apparently South Jordan made. He opens the box to a huge pink and white cake? What? He was told various things but at the end of the day it was still a pink and white cake. Redwood said South Jordan had made the cake so I called and spoke to a female manager who did not offer one single solution, idea or any empathy for what her employees did. She then made the statement of, "we have rules to not write male names on a cake with pink..." so does Benjamin and Alan sound like girl names? I mean, I could see something like Sam or Alex.... But Benjamin and Alan? Redwood offered to "write over it with a second color." Again, WHAT?! The manager told me over the phone that he had selected "pink roses" no, he didn't. I am glad he is smart and took a picture of the order. No pink lettering was listed in the order sheet. Another female employee at Redwood says, "well maybe the decorater thought they were gay..." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Ridiculous comment. I cannot make this stuff up. They refunded the pink disaster and he left with a pre-made cake for for a 7 year old. What a huge disappointment. We will...
Read moreI’d like to share my experience at this bakery with you. I had come here on a whim, shortly after the earthquake we had in March. I’m not a regular, I was just there for the 2 free loaves of bread.
Back in March, before everyone decided not to take the pandemic seriously, I was also risking my own life to get them. I’d heard about the locusts in Southern Hemisphere and the earthquake really made it seem like end of days.
I stood in line and read the news of the earthquake. I discovered the only real damage within the city of Salt Lake was the golden angel Moroni, dropped His horn from the temple.
All shook up, I will NEVER forget the worker here. I said to him “Is it the end of times?!”.
As he handed me (and dozens of others) two full loaves of freshly baked bread, he said “We thought about cancelling because of the earthquake. But decided that if we are all gonna die, we may as well go out being nice to people.”
I don’t live in salt lake anymore, but if you do you should go here. Good pastry’s and...
