Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Teaneck Township

THANK YOU POPEYES! REAL PLASTIC BAGS! REAL PLASTIC STRAWS! 5 stars!! meanwhile the reat of NJ has gone completely nuts banning all bags and all plastic straws. Popeyes has actual plastic bags so your food will not leak and spill all over your car. Amd they have real plastic straws instead of soggy paper straws made with bleach, glue and chemicals. I will be coming here more often if other fast food places start banning essential and common sense items like plastic bags and plastic straws.

New sauce Sweet Heat is really good, and i usually like only mild and sweet sauces. But this one is yummy! Better than sweet&sour from other fast food places. End of 05/04/2022 update.

Update 09/25/20 Ate here during the stupid lockdowns of 2020. Lots of paranoid customers. But we were allowed to eat inside like normal human beings, without masks. So that was very good! Only 2 tables open to eat at, but we got a table super easy since it seems everyone there was too scared to eat inside. The restroom is open too, so that is a big plus! Lots of drink selections and the chicken sandwich was super yummy with a mouth watering toasted bun with butter!

Update 11/18/19 Busy night. They were out of diet dr pepper, but they did have diet rootbeer. My cashier was fast, but the other cashier was very slow. They did not give me a reciept or any napkins, which is VERY bad. Im knocking off 1 star because they raised the price of the chicken sandwich combo to $9!! Just 4 months ago the exact same meal cost $7. And the poboy sandwich was just $5 before they replaced it with this. Crazy greedy popeyes. There is no excuse and no justification to raise the price to $9! Goto the chickfila nearby for a reasonable price $7 chicken sandwich meal, superior service, cleaner dinning room, better flavor and you ALWAYS get a receipt and napkins!

Update: 6/27/19 Couldn't find the po boy sandwich on the menu. But, I did see a new chicken sandwich, so I tried it. The new chicken sandwich is very delicious!! The new roll they use is super tasty and I rank it just below the rolls used at Chick-Fil-a! This is way better than the new ciabatta rolls used at Boston Market!!

Original review: Pros: Yummy food here. Ample parking. Original fried apple pies like the ones mcdonalds used to make, but coated with sugar and cinnamon.

Cons: Prices are on the high side for everything. Only a few tables to sit at.

Other observations: The design of the front counter area looks very messy and dizzy. Its like someone spit a bunch of random, dull colored tiles all over. I think they should either make a nice tie-in with the Popeye cartoon and theme the whole restaurant like that, or simplify the look completely. If they want to use tiles, then a nice clean look. All brown tiles or orange tiles or white tiles. Something that matches the brand and current logo. Maybe jumbo size a logo into the tiles. Pixel art would be better than what they have now. Or another idea would be toskip the tiles and use an auntique wood style with real or artificial wood. Make it look like a part of a real building in Louisiana. That would look interesting and bring character to this place.

This Popeyes is extremely stingy with their sauces. I once ordered 20 pieces of chicken, and they did not give me even one sauce until I noticed and asked. When I asked for two kinds of sauces, they gave me only one of each. How is that enough for 20 pieces of chicken?

Another time, I ordered 20 pieces of chicken through Uber Eats and requested some sauces, just to find out after the food arrived that they did not even include 1. My entire group had to eat all the chicken dry.

Today, I ordered a 2 piece chicken meal and asked for sauce. The manager said that I could have it but they are supposed to charge for them. Shouldn't they at least give 1 sauce with an order? Do they expect everyone to eat the chicken dry? I have been to many Popeyes locations and I have never once been told that I will be charged for the sauces when I order chicken.

At Chick-fil-A, when I ask for sauce, they always give me an entire bag with all the different kinds, even if I just order one sandwich. They are much more generous and do not nickel and dime customers.

I normally only leave bad reviews after I've seen a trend or an issue that occurs repeatedly. After today's experience, I believe that this review is warranted. If you like sauce with your chicken, be prepared to eat most of it dry. I do not know if I'd want to go back to this location again. I'll most likely end up going to a different location from now on, where they may not...

Went in today and ordered what I always order popcorn shrimp only no combo. Now from previous experience I tell the cashier I'll wait for a fresh batch order and not to give me the old ones that they hold to the side and they always honored my request. Well the new people they have in there now thought I was stupid and would recognize old shrimp from fresh shrimp I asked her did u give me old shrimp she said no I tasted one from the bottom and it was so rubbery I had to spit it out. I asked again please give me a new order with fresh shrimp only. They took the basket which they just put an order of shrimp in and gave it to me. Still the same MIXED. I end up throwing it away and filed a complaint with the manager via their online site. I work in fast food and seafood especially should be done fresh per order never serve old shrimp that's how I got sick last time. These new people they have in there must have the same attitude got our food as if they was eating it. This is un acceptable and I will be following up with a phone call to management for a refund or a new order...
