My wife and I had a craving for some good fried chicken, so we read the reviews at this restaurant and they all said they had great fried chicken so we decided to try it. They were not very busy, maybe 3 tables. We waited 10 minutes for the server to take our order after we were seated. Then our salads came after another 10 minutes. Then we waited for approximately 35-40 more minutes for our dinner. Very disappointed, the chicken was soo dry I couldn’t even eat it, I got a breast and a wing that was soo dry all it had was skin and bones. The bread was soo dry I couldn’t swallow it without taking a drink of water. My wife’s turkey dinner that she ordered was also so very dry as well, she tried to bask it in the gravy but it wasn’t enough. Neither of us finished. The corn on the cob was the worst corn I’ve ever had. Tasted like it had been frozen too long taken out and overcooked Sat for a while and then microwaved. When we asked our server what the vegetables were for the night she had no idea, and that’s what she told us, she never offered to go check. Terrible experience, needless to say it will probably be the last time...
Read moreThe food was really good. We waited at the front counter for a while before a young the waitress finally acknowledged us and told us we could sit wherever we like. She later came and took our drink order. The restaurant was not terribly busy, there were plenty of vacant seats and a few staff moving about. It was some time before she came and took our food order. Shortly later, another waitress came and checked on us and brought some napkins. This second waitress brought our food order nearly 45 minutes later and apologized for the order taking so long. In the meantime, the first waitress passed by several times without looking our way to acknowledge our empty glasses or check on us. The second waitress didn't come to our area other than to deliver the food. While she was quite friendly, it couldn't make up for the general inattentiveness we experienced from the beginning, or the long wait. We are pretty patient and could understand a long wait, but it makes a world of difference when you at least check in. The food was great and the price was very reasonable. It's a pity that the lack of service prevents a...
Read moreI was brought to this place in Tehachapi called Village Grill by my parents. It sits on the Blvd near the Dutch bakery. I ordered the Carnitas skillet with eggs over easy. The first dishes I tried. Come with a side of toast, or biscuits and gravy. The atmosphere is friendly country style old school charm sitting in near the mountains. Service was on point and without haste. Now to the good part... the food! I was presented on time with the eggs on top cooked to perfection. The dish also had lots of meat that is slow cooked around 12 hours. The top layer was crispy a little burnt, but the inside melts in your mouth. It was accompanied by melted cheese, and soft potato's with a buttery consistency. It was not greasy. It was cooked on a skillet. I added salt to enhance the flavor. That would be my only complaint. The toast I picked was sourdough. It was toasted and butter perfectly. Once I took a bite, the buttery savory goodness took me back to when I was a kid at my grandma and grandpa's house having breakfast. I will be coming back to try other foods. Price was average of 17 dollars. I highly recommend...
