This has been our third visit at Jake's. If I can recall correctly, the last time we've visited was around a couple of years ago, right about the same time in the year when the weather was starting to get cold in Temecula.
The place is welcoming to where it gives you the feeling of an authentic Japanese restaurant. The hostess is friendly and courteous, which I believe is the same person running the tables from our last visit, years ago.
It was a busy night, but we were seated fairly quick. Our food came in right away, which was considerably fast. There were only two servers, but they had it down to science and were able to manage the busy dining area.
We ordered the following:
Hot Green Tea - The wife ordered this drink and our server used a well-crafted cup with an engraved note, "Hello, Gorgeous". The little things that had made the spouse happy. Indeed, notably artistic. Soft Macha Slush with boba - Macha flavor is one of my favorite dessert drinks after the mango. The boba was gelatinous and remarkably soft to the core. Tako Yaki - Appetizing meatballs whereas this one was stuffed with either an oyster or an octopus. It was very delicious. Miso Ramen Soup x 2 - The soup was flavorful and the soft egg was cooked perfectly with a half juicy yolk. The pork belly was tender all around, matched with tasty soft layer fat around the meat that melted right in the mouth.
It was a great dining experience overall. Good food, excellent customer service and certainly a plus for offering a discounted tab for yelpers. We will certainly...
Read moreWe visited Temecula and quickly realized it's way less dense compared to Los Angeles. Keeping that in mind, Rockin' Ramen 😋🍜 must be considered one of the best ramen place in town 💯👍🏼! The place is clean and cozy, the lighting in the restaurant was bright. The waiters and waitresses were very friendly and efficient!
The food:
Ika Geso Kaarage 🐙 (9/10): I enjoyed their squid legs! The meat was chewy. The seasoning was spot on, not too salty nor oily! This dish would have been perfect if they were more crispy! This dish is a solid choice for an appetizer nonetheless!
Spam Musubi (10/10): I thoroughly enjoyed these sushi 🍣 rolls (maybe that's not the proper name for the dish). The texture of the sushi rice was great, the spam was tasty. I would say I enjoyed this spam Musubi more than the fried squid legs.
Seafood ramen 🦞 🍜 (9/10): Out of the 2 ramen flavors we ordered, this is probably the better choice! The noodles were mildly chewy. Seasonings were just right. The broth was delightful 👌🏼and the meat (prawns, imitation crab meat, and clams) in this dish was mouth watering 🤤. The portion was also very generous!
Spicy Sausage Ramen 🌭🍜 (8/10): I loved the taste of this dish. The spice level was enjoyable, there were a good portion of vegetables 🥬 as well. Sausage was not salty at all and the pork 🐖 meat was tasty 😋! Again, the portion is satisfying! The only downside is that the noodles weren't hard enough.
Overall, there aren't that many ramen restaurants in town. So, if you are craving for Japanese ramen🍜, then I can't recommend Rockin'...
Read moreI've been to plenty of ramen places around LA, Orange, and San Diego counties, and even went to Tokyo, Japan and had some fine ramen there. My first foray into Riverside county ramen was, without a doubt, a disaster. I will state for the record that the wait staff was nothing but courteous, but the food quality was the poorest I've ever encountered.
I had the Miso Ramen. When I received the ramen, I was concerned by the look of the chashu and flavored eggs, as they seemed off. Once I took a bite of each, it was confirmed that the whole thing was just garbage (and I'm not being over-dramatic here). The noodles are literally instant ramen noodles you can get for $0.33 at your local grocer, the eggs tasted sweet and nothing like the soy sauce flavoring that I'm used to, and the chashu looked like Canadian bacon that was overcooked and rubbery, and tasted as such. Others in my party had tried some of the other offerings and the flavoring in those "soups" were completely off the mark. I felt instantly bad after a few spoonfuls as I realized this was not what I was expecting at all.
I should have been concerned by the fact that they had a "Spanish" Ramen which included cilantro and jalapeno (stereotype much?). No self-respecting ramen shop or any other Japanese establishment would EVER offer cilantro.
If this is the highest rated ramen place in the area, I really have to be concerned about the rest of the county. I, for one, will not be returning...
