We've been going to Doc and Eddys for years, even before the unfortunate event of the building burning down. We love it here and we've never had any issues. However, after our last experience we don't think we will be coming back much.
We were ordering drinks at our table for probably an hour, no issues whatsoever. After paying our tab we moved over to play some darts. We all finished our drinks so we decided to just go straight to the bar instead of finding our previous waiter to order some drinks.
The older lady working at the bar was super rude and said we were too young and she wasn't going to serve us. Mind you- this is the first time we've gone up to the bar, we've already been here 2 hours, & we've shared 3 pitchers of beer amongst 5 people. I would understand refusing service due to being too drunk but all of us were fine & pacing ourselves. She also said we would need our whole group to order, which is completely understandable. However, the bartender wouldn't even look at our IDs. What's the point of having an ID check to buy drinks when she wouldn't give us the time of day because we "look too young"? It shouldn't matter if we look too young if we're of age and have IDs/Passports to prove it. When we argued with her she brushed us off and said to find our previous waiter to order more drinks because she's not going to serve us. Our previous waiter was pretty busy and had many tables to himself. We thought it was ridiculous so we went elsewhere. She gave us a pretty smug look as we exited, she probably thought she caught some underage teenagers. Realistically we're all between the ages of 24 and 30.
Overall this bartender completely refused service because of our looks. I definitely thought policy was to check IDs/ passports in order to buy drinks but apparently if we look young we can't? We've never had this happen to us before, where our IDs won't even be glanced at. It's super disappointing because we absolutely love this place. We've been going here for over 6+ years I would say with absolutely no issues. But if this is how some of the workers are going to act then they won't be getting our...
Read moreWhole family came to watch a football game on Sunday morning. Place has no less than 50 tv’s. Today at 12pm our own Phoenix Mercury are playing in the WNBA finals. My 14 year old daughter is with us and she plays good ball. May even be college bound someday, so I’ve been told. Doc & Eddys even has a Griner jersey hanging on the wall. There was only 4 tables sat in the entire main area at the time and I asked if we could get 1 tv on to watch the WNBA finals game. (Each football game had 3 tv’s showing the same game about 12-15 TV’s amongst 4 tables and no wait). I made the request 20 minutes before game time. Ultimately told “no” they couldn’t change one TV because the games were already going. My daughter and I ended up leaving so I could take her to watch the game from home. It was sad to me to have it demonstrated to her that our home professional women’s Basketball team Phoenix Mercury who is playing in the Championship Game wasn’t supported by our local community. Of course if the Suns were playing in their Championship game it would have been on, not to mention if a patron asked for 1 of the 50 TV’s to show it it would have been accommodated.
Ok. So I get most people aren’t into it and maybe it would be too much to ask for them to assign a tv to the game. However, if there’s a rule that only the assigned games can be on the assigned tv without exception… I think for the 2 hours of gameplay our local sports bars should support the Local Professional Sports teams if they are in the Championship Games. Otherwise, be willing to adjust to your audience.
Update—- manager and my husband discussed after we left and manager was seemingly supportive and said he would consider our points of view and in the future potentially have a space for the rest of the finals games for the Mercury. The owner left the below response and I feel they do care enough to make an effort. My hope is that this situation helped to bring the issue to mind and believe/hope there will be better opportunities...
Read more*After posting publicly about my experience being assaulted (legally defined as apprehension of harmful or offensive contact) at this location and laughed at by staff, the owners reached out to me asking to talk. I agreed, and an hour before we were scheduled to talk they cancelled. They made a public statement about the evening filled with lies and misinformation. First they stated I was escorted to the parking lot to ensure my safety while I waited for the police. I have a video of me alone outside of the bar. When the officer arrived I was alone. They also stated that the officer said asking me to leave was the right move. This was also a lie. The officer was on my side and confirmed that my life was threatened, even though the security man working refused to watch my video evidence. They said that other witnesses said I had been combative & ‘provoked’ the threat on my life- when those people were not witnesses at all, but friends of the perpetrator. They encouraged their Facebook regulars to attack me and liked comments calling me a liar and laughing at my assault, calling me oversensitive. Since then they are ignoring my requests for a copy of my receipt and CCTV from the evening. A friend of mine also called asking to speak to a manager and was hung up on multiple times and staff told her that I made the entire thing up. I wanted to give the owners the benefit of the doubt but I am disgusted at this behavior. They have shown me exactly...
