If you’re on the hunt for an extraordinary gelato experience, look no further than Jelato 88! This hidden gem is just a stone’s throw away from ASU on Broadway, between Rual and McClintock. It’s become my favorite place to satisfy my sweet tooth, and I can’t stop talking about the amazing flavors they have.
From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a vibrant atmosphere that perfectly complements the delightful creations they serve. The owner is not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable about the gelato, always eager to recommend flavors based on your preferences.
Now, let’s talk about the gelato itself. The texture is nothing short of heavenly—smooth, creamy, and rich, each scoop melts in your mouth, leaving you craving more. What truly sets Jelato 88 apart, however, is their unique and innovative flavor selection. They’ve got a wide range of flavors, from classic favorites like rich chocolate and velvety vanilla to more adventurous options like Guan Yin (an oolong tea-inspired flavor), Rose Russian, and Jasmine. Each flavor is crafted with high-quality ingredients, and you can taste the difference!
One of my personal favorites is the Biscoff gelato with a scoop of chocolate. It’s bursting with the unique caramelized flavor of Biscoff Cookies, and the chocolate complements it perfectly with its balance of sweetness. I also can’t resist their seasonal offerings, like the delightful Pumpkin Spice gelato. It’s evident that Jelato 88 is passionate about their craft, and it shines through in every scoop.
I’ve made it a point to return often, eager to explore their ever-changing menu of unique flavors. Each visit feels like a new adventure, and I love discovering unexpected combinations that tantalize my taste buds. Whether you’re a gelato aficionado or just looking for a refreshing treat on a hot day, Jelato 88 is a must-visit.
In conclusion, if you haven’t experienced the magic of Jelato 88 yet, do yourself a favor and stop by. I guarantee you’ll leave with a smile and a newfound obsession. I can’t wait to see what new flavors they’ll introduce next—I’ll definitely be...
Read moreI have been to many gelato shops in many places and even attended the Global Gelato Festival. Any time there is an opportunity to try matcha gelato, I will always try it. You will not find a better matcha gelato in the state of Arizona. All other gelato shops use very little matcha and add food coloring that results in a bright green mixture. Jelato88 does not; you will see the dark green color immediately and taste the very earthy, slightly bitter tannins of real green tea leaves when the very first morsel hits your tongue. If you are into overly sweet, artificial matcha (ala Starbucks), this is not for you. You will absolutely taste the tea leaves that never yield to sugar, nor should they. I encourage you to also try the other tea flavors if you want an authentic Asian gelato experience. The Pu-erh flavor has hints of chocolate mixed with black tea and is the mildest of the tea trifecta (matcha, pu-erh, and jasmine) but is no less delicious. But real pìèce de résistance is the jasmine tea gelato. The flowery citrus fragrance invades your mouth like a wave of an entire field of flowers. Simultaneously cleansing and delectable, you will dream about this for days - I know I will. I hope you find this hidden gem and support this local business that is so unique and serves some of the best...
Read moreI was passing by Phoenix and saw this store had such high reviews, and I can attest that is the BEST and HEALTHIEST gelato in Phoenix!!!
I talked to the owner and find out that she really likes to develop new flavors. Here you can taste flavors that you can't get anywhere else, and new flavors are introduced every week. Everything here is handmade and the raw materials are shipped from all over the world, they are very fresh. Because there is no added gelatin, the taste is very creamy and smooth. (It will melt quickly, please enjoy it as soon as possible!)
I am so happy that I can enjoy such delicious ice cream in Phoenix, it is a complete surprise! So I highly recommend anyone passing by or living in Phoenix to come and try it. A good ice cream should be tasted by more people!!
*The store has only been open for two months. The only drawback is that the area is too small, cannot accommodate multiple people at the same time. Although it is not big, it is very fashionable. All the graffiti is designed and drawn by the owner himself. *Please note that this it is closed every Thursday. Don't go...
