I walked in with my girlfriend to order some dinner for take-out since they had quite a few things on the menu that sounded really good.. Honestly, the caesar wrap and their loaded fries were 9/10. Tasted delicious and fresh. Service however was really weird. When we walked in someone sitting at the bar, drinking, ecstatically yelled "HEYY!!!!! welcome in!!!" and I had no idea if it was maybe the bar's owner or just a drunken guest. Either way we sat down and looked for something to order. There was two people behind the bar, one girl working and one guy sitting on his phone in view of the whole place. We were ready to order and the guy was literally 5 feet away from the bar end where we were sitting, and when I got his attention that we were ready to order, he had a very blank expression and didn't say anything, just walked over and waited for me to tell him what I wanted. I'm not trying to be sensitive or anything, but what the $$$$? It might sound like almost nothing happened but it actually made the entire experience really weird and awkward, we felt super out of place despite being a young 20s couple. Boondocks in Tempe is my go-to, around the corner spot for a fantastic time! Casey, the first bartender I met here, is a gem – her kindness and skill create a welcoming atmosphere that initially kept me coming back. Seriously, had it not been for her, I’m not sure I’d have come back.

The there’s Tyler, the GM, who runs the show with attentiveness, ensuring a fair and positive vibe for both staff and patrons.

Brittany's vibrant energy adds a lively touch, making the bar area fun and inviting. Jared, another diligent bartender, not only serves with precision but also saved my b*tt on a sports-themed crossword.

And let's not forget Matt - braving through every Thursday karaoke night of college kids and off key singers with levity and professionalism, just proves Boondocks Tempe is the SUPERIOR Boondocks.

The entire staff, including these amazing individuals, makes sure everyone feels safe, included. It's not just a bar; it's the local watering hole this side of Tempe needed - filled with positive vibes and great people! 🌟

I usually never write reviews cause it’s not that big of a deal to me but recent events left me so disappointed. My friends and I have been multiple times for after shift drinks and enjoy singing the karaoke on thurs. however the DJ is so rude and always tells me he can’t get me in. I have tried to put a song in around 12:15 and he tells me the list is done for the night which is fine. So last night I went up at 11:30 and put one song in and waited all night and when I went to check at 12:45 he told me he doesn’t have time for me. He let all his friends sing all night instead. That aside I left my tab at the bar by accident and went home. When I checked my account statements the bartender charged me an extra $33 dollars even tho I only had one $9 drink. When I went back for my card today there was 3 drinks I never ordered. The bartender just told me “I didn’t work last night so just dispute with ur bank.” I don’t plan on coming back cause it honestly just annoying and plenty of bars out there that...
